Look what Samsung has started gotta hand it to Lg least they know who to copy to bring home the gold. Thanks to Samsung it's nothing but up from this point on. Samsung are the creators of this space and me and my Galaxy Note 2 are extremely greatful.

There isnt a shred of innovation or anything new in this device!
LG please stop making marginal improvements to copies of other manufacturer flagships and calling it your own flagship!
Make a market for yourself...the only decent effort out of LG the past year has been the Nexus 4 and that too wouldnt have happened if Google didnt push these guys!

76. Twisted247 posted on 07 Feb 2013, 16:45

That is what LG is known for. Take a winning design and make a little better looking spec sheet. But then not be able to execute and mend it all together. Our listen to what is coming out new next then RUSH to put it out first with poor execution only to be immediately over shadowed by the competition.

LG is all about the spec sheet and attempting to be the "1st" in am area. Difference between them and other manufactures is other ones announce they are working on something for release some time in the future. Then LG takes that idea slaps it together and releases it so they can claim "first". Only to be surpassed by the true innovators that originally announced they were working on it and who took their time to perfect it then release it.

Seriously, all the nonsense about the SGS3 and Note 2 looking like the iPhone. Hide both Samsung and LG logos at the top of both devices and it would be hard to tell them apart.

But like others say, if you are going to copy, copy from the best.

2. wendygarett posted on 07 Feb 2013, 05:12 12 29

No thanks, galaxy note 2 is better, and I won't felt for the marketing gimmick because of that 1080p screen 13mp and crapdragon chips...

16. Retro-touch posted on 07 Feb 2013, 05:36 20

Keep drooling while peddling your Note 2, from last year, Note 3 and GS4 are coming up!!!

21. Guest_star posted on 07 Feb 2013, 06:03 10 1

woah, dude, snapragon has THE BEST mobile chips at the moment, I mean, no one is choosing T4 over S4 pro although they can because it is anounced, that alone speaks how snapdragon chips are good and they are from last year, 5 months old by now, they are way better than exynos too, for now, but i highly doubt that even exynos 5 octa will be able to outperform krait 600, letalone krait 800

63. rd_nest posted on 07 Feb 2013, 12:59

Really? Care to share the details? which benchmark have you used? GPU/CPU/memory config for any of these SoC?
Even going by Qualcomm's marketing material, it's just "up to 40 percent" faster compared to S4 Pro. Don't forget that clock-speed itself is around 25% faster for S600. It doesn't sound like much improvement to me if I ignore clock speed boost. On per-clock basis, it's just like 10% improvement over S4 Pro. Don't forget it's still using Adreno 320 GPU which is just about enough to drive a FHD display, and nothing spectacular.
Have you heard about thermal throttling in N4 for S4 Pro SoC? Think before you say about S4 Pro. Nexus 4 using S4 Pro is severely affected by thermal throttling. Don't take my word, just google it.
Have you considered that a FHD display run on a mere 6.4GB/s memory bandwidth on a GPU which is barely enough to drive such display? Exynos 5 in comparison has double the memory bandwidth and a much powerful GPU. So, before you say something, think properly.

69. markt9002 posted on 07 Feb 2013, 14:13 1

I wouldn't pay attention to any marketing material, as none of it seems to translate into real world performance.
Adreno 320 is still a powerful GPU. Just look at the GLbenchmark results of the N4, specifically the offscreen Egypt HD tests. Benchmarks like Antutu do not matter whatsoever.

There are no issues with the N4, and custom kernels have taken care of any problems. It can run all games I throw at it, and it never gets hot. Actually, It barely gets warm. That's the goal, right? I wasn't happy with the stock kernel, but Franco kernel really makes the phone shine, and one of these days we'll see proper display calibration, because Google seems to be completely apathetic, in regards to calibrating the N4's display. The N4 delivers great performance, and the best battery life I've had on any phone.

Anyway, the T604 GPU is marginally better than Adreno 320, and IMO, the T604 in the N10 is somewhat underpowered, especially if you compare its power to the iPad 4. I cannot stand Apple, but the SoC in the iPad 4 is a beast. I'd really like to see an Android flagship device with a PowerVR Rogue GPU, especially on a Nexus device.

Also, the SoC in the Galaxy S4 is supposed to have the Exynos Octa with a SGX544MP3 GPU. So Sammy's not even using their own GPUs. IMO, Samsung should have gone with the SGX554 GPU (I'm sure they didn't due to cost) because I'm certain that the iPhone 5s will have the same beast you see in the iPad 4. On paper, the SGS4 will be a great device, and I hope AMOLED has evolved even more. The Sony Xperia Z should be a nice device, too.

73. rd_nest posted on 07 Feb 2013, 15:25 2

I know about Adreno 320 results, I find it decent. But for FHD off-screen it just touches 30fps. Not a great result when phones are using FHD display.
As for Sammy, they never used their "own" GPU. They used PowerVR 540 in Hummingbird, then next 2 versions then used Mali which is a ARM design.
A6X has lead over Exynos 5250 in GPU, not CPU. If you compare CPU A15 easily beats Swift. As for Exynos 'Octa', the GPU will be much more powerful compared to 320. It has the 544MP3 clocked at 533Mhz. This should give a result very similar to A6X GPU. Also, there are 2 versions of Exynos to be released this year. 5410 and 5450. 5410 is for phones with 544MP3 @ 533Mhz. 5450 is using Mali-T658.

74. markt9002 posted on 07 Feb 2013, 16:21

I am aware that the CPU in the Exynos 5250 has an advantage over the A6X. I did a bit more research, and it seems that it's unlikely that the iPhone 5s will have a SGX554MPx GPU, because the die size is a lot larger than the SGX544MPx and below.
I agree with you though, the Adreno 320 is great for right now, but is not going to cut it in the future. That being said, I'm very happy that Samsung decided to go with a three core PowerVR chip for the SGS4. It may even persuade me to sell my Nexus 4, once SGS4 development matures. Touchwiz...no thanks. It will be interesting to see what ARM's T658 & T678 has to offer. I hope it's able to compete with PowerVR's next generation of GPUs, because PowerVR has been on top for too long.

85. Guest_star posted on 08 Feb 2013, 02:43 1

I agree with you about GPU side of things, but let's be serious here and not biased, from what we see now, and what we have seen last year qualcomm really did a great job on CPU side of things and is not going to slow down any time soon, maybe I am wrong but that is just my opinion.

86. Guest_star posted on 08 Feb 2013, 03:30 1

oh and btw in specs of this phone it says that it is using snapdrgon 600, so we will see how it performes

The Galaxy Note 2 is an industry leading device with impeccable software solutions and features. Samsung created this space and thanks to Samsung these space will grow very big in 2013. Lg better know who to copy.

54. dsmboost posted on 07 Feb 2013, 09:57

You're about one SoC generation behind. Get with the times, the s4 chips are anything but crap.

3. redmd posted on 07 Feb 2013, 05:14 7 1

It looks like a Note II. I wish LG kept their artsy L designs. Specs are great though.

8. redmd posted on 07 Feb 2013, 05:18 1 2

On the other hand, LG should be ready for lawsuit: rectangular shape with round corners=check.

25. XiphiasGladius posted on 07 Feb 2013, 06:45 1 1

On the other hand. Try googling the LG Prada Phone.

51. richardyarrell2011 (banned) posted on 07 Feb 2013, 09:30 1 5

Great specs no doubt but still not better than the Galaxy Note 2. Other than the screen and maybe the camera since we all know that megipixels don't really matter when it comes to cameras. Software wise Samsung is pretty hard to beat in the camera software department.

91. papss posted on 08 Feb 2013, 17:54 2 1

Seriously dude get off the SS advertisement sack.. Look harder because your note 2 has an average camera at best ( its noisy as he11)... I'd imagine most flagship phones from here out are going to step it up in the picture department

94. richardyarrell2011 (banned) posted on 10 Feb 2013, 20:19 2

You don't own the Galaxy Note 2 either if you did you wouldn't be talking.

62. redmd posted on 07 Feb 2013, 12:17 1

Now dont let that home button get slapped with Verizon logo because it wont fit.

10. cezarepc posted on 07 Feb 2013, 05:21 1

Specs-wise it's a beast. But so is every other H1 flagship. What impresses me is the sheer number of mah mentioned in the article.

14. _Bone_ posted on 07 Feb 2013, 05:31 2 1

But you see anything new? It's basically a FHD Optimus G with a Note II screen & battery minus sylus. By the time it's out the company that inspired the design will be marketing an A15 Octa.

Picture could be fake BTW.

17. darac posted on 07 Feb 2013, 05:38 5 2

WTF?!?!?!

This is so Note 2 look-a-like it's ridiculous

18. Diego! posted on 07 Feb 2013, 05:45 1

WTF??? O_O LG Galaxy S/Note II? Samsung & Apple (due to rectangular shape with round corners and physical home button) suing in 3... 2... 1!
LG you fell really low! Despite its amazing features, I won't buy this phone. Sammy, I hope you make a lot of money by suing this idiots! :)

19. Guest_star posted on 07 Feb 2013, 05:52

dat bazzel.
They did exctly what sammsung is doing, they made bigger optimus G like sammsung made bigger sgs3, imo optimus G will still be their flagship for H1, and this is Note 2 alternative, i wouldn't be suprised if they outed note 3 alternative in H2...
btw specs sound amazing!! specially the battery

20. Diego! posted on 07 Feb 2013, 06:02 3

The problem is that they didn't keep LG G's design... and went straight to copycat Samsung!

22. Guest_star posted on 07 Feb 2013, 06:08 4

yeah this really does look like note 2, a little too much, but everyone was complaining about their squarish design so they changed it, and now everyone is complaining about new design, that just goes to show you that you can not indulge everyone, just push forward with your vision, and if you are good to customers people will see you as a good, reliable choice they won't mind that much about design...

27. Diego! posted on 07 Feb 2013, 06:50 2 1

I agree! But I prefer LG G design :D

23. jade272727 posted on 07 Feb 2013, 06:10 3 2

31. neutralguy posted on 07 Feb 2013, 06:54

it seems that hardware specifications of phones today are almost the same with each other. This shows that it will come to a point that we'll see all the same phones that only differs on brand and skins and slightly on design.

33. drpain posted on 07 Feb 2013, 07:22

Awesome, only issue is the old chipset but will prolly be fine for the next two years

35. cR203 posted on 07 Feb 2013, 07:30
