Now that the iPhone 5 is all-official, there are many people in the industry who feel a bit underwhelmed by the announcement. Sure, it’s bigger, faster, and stronger than its predecessor, but as a whole, it might not embody all the necessary characteristics to deem...

I stopped commenting after the android floodgates opened and the hate started pouring out. This is the first comment I post in like 3 days because its pointless to argue with people that have just built a hate for apple.

Wendy I feel ya and commend you on being brave enough to voice your thoughts on what truly is a remarkable device. Anyone that doesnt see it, knows nothing about the tech industry.

I used to think apple users were the blind ones but the android users here def take the cake. The hatred is so thick it makes me ashamed of buying another Android device.

Pretty sure the RAZR M, the Xperia V, and the HTC One S are closer to the same category. Are there really people who say, "either this small iphone or this giant android phone"? I don't see it. I guess maybe I do, but those aren't people whose opinions I'd care too much about phones.

all of android owners in my opinion are the saddest owners that I ever read except me since I got a Galaxy Note, but some times I do not even know why I response, but I guess funny response like these bring me out once in a blue "Android phones have far outsold the iPhone. There is not a "Specific" phone outselling the iPhone because we have a choice. Keyboards, screen sizes, forms, specs. You have one phone to choose from.".......I see people talking about iphone features all day but not one person taken a look at the GALAXY 3 camera which use a LAST YEAR MODEL IPHONE for a camera, not only that Samsung took a page from Apple this year where Galaxy 3 was not a big jump from Galaxy 2......compare to the galaxy 1 to the galaxy 2 but yet people was all over it......now these same people complain about the iphone and people upgrading to new iphone make all of yall andriod owners hypocrite's......stop bashing phones in general its bad for your health......some phones work for certain people, I have a GALAXY NOTE it works for ME............I would not upgrade to GALAXY NOTE 2 because they trying to pull the samething Samsung did with Galaxy 2 to Galaxy 3 with a minium update.......and to be honest my phone is not like the past phones where i needed a update or my phone will stop working.....in my opinion phones made it to a point where we can actually be good for 2 years before we upgrade......but for all you people on this website get a life.....not everyone like the same thing you like....its call options and some people prefer iphone or Windows.....now if you ask my opinion which is the best phone I would say LUMIA 920 have the biggest potential right now, and its not like the iphone or galaxy series where it did a small upgrade from 900 to 920 but it did a big upgrade, and there is still features that are not talk about yet, so the potential is there, but as of any other phone they are all okay nothing special......beside the LUMIA I give Motorola Razer props for the Kevlar design it did something new with its hardware but beside that all you andriod owners are doing samething iphone owners doing which is upgrade for minimum features

your face statement of this comment is probably the most narcissistic statement ever ''all of android owners in my opinion are the saddest owners that I ever read except me'' for real?!

and not all android phones are minor upgrades from previous models. the HTC One X isnt a minor upgrade from the HTC Sensation. The LG Optimus 4x HD isnt a minor upgrade from the Optimus 2x.

''beside that all you andriod owners are doing samething iphone owners doing which is upgrade for minimum features'' i dont think phones like the LG Optimus G and upcoming HTC 1080p are minimum feature upgrades. those phones are INNOVATIVE. i have no idea where u get idea tt these phones are minimal upgrades from previous versions

Those phones won't give competition to the iPhone, all of them are real high end devices that already have beaten the iPhone in every aspect.

We all know that, that's beyond obvious, but in this article they're poiting out to a possible SALES competition for the iPhone5. But as always the iPhone will sell like hot cakes if I'm not mistaken. . .

I think you should certainly include Xperia T/TX

I think that the iphone5 is so overestimated and it can not compete in a "fair comparison" with many phones. I found the Xperia and One X to be many levels above the iphone5

indeed......the xperia v outperformed the galaxy s3 in benchmarks and to top it off it has the beauty and exclusiveness that can compete with the only thing apple can truly boast about.......design

power and design with a good company.....what more could we ask for?

sony is the better choice for sure

The only reason why these devices have not outsold the number of sales of the iPhone is that many of them are fanboys and it's already like engraved on their minds that iPhone is the best smartphone, that's why they won't even give the competitors a try. All of those 5 smartphones obviously have defeated the iPhone 5 in terms of specs(for performance, I have yet to see the comparison),build quality, etc.

Nokia’s PureMotion HD+ has a 60Hz refresh rate, making it “blur free” and the fastest display on a phone. Throw in ClearBlack for super saturated colors, 4.5” inches in size and a massive 332ppi that dwarfs the iPhone 5 and we know the winner.
But that didn’t stop Apple from exclaiming, "This is the world's most advanced display and I couldn't be prouder of it."

Sorry, but bulls**t:)

if the competition is about specs or a better phone, this is not even a competition, all 4 competitors beat the iphone easily, but if its sales competition definitely iphone will still be the big hit. the very disappointing iphone 4s sold very well i think this will also sell well since there a are alot of loyal apple customers.

i really think bigger than 4.5 is really humongous or on phablet space already!

3.5-4.5" is i think the most standard... coz i got big hands but no problem texting on 3.5" screen..so the iPhone 5 and lumia 920 are really a catch!

sure that bigger screen like s3, oneX optimusG and razr MAXX HD are good for watching movie but i still prefer watching film on a bigger screen like 9.7 or 10.1 size or on a loptop! but these thing as phones! i dont really like the idea of having bigger screen for a phone, coz if you want a bigger screen. buy a 7" tablet or 9.7/10.1/10.6 tablets for movie purposes but smartphones's job is call and text and maybe some apps and games for time-killer purposes..

huge screens consumes the phones battery so fast and not to mention, these multicore madness and its OS running!!

but still its really good comparison..

i feel pity to nokia though... iPhone 5 will ship on september 21st and WP OS is still on the labs and still fixing bugs to make it user perfect experience! but nokia will be left behind again! so im wishing that microsoft should make great moves now! WP- its now or never!

iFhone 5 is now truly irrelevant to the market. If someone wants to buy an iFhone, better buy the 4S which will see a price cut and will still be relevant.Android and the new WP8 have done a better job with their flagships which are what u call NEW smartphones.
iFhone 5 should be called iFhone 4.0.2(4.0 for 4 inch and .2 for an updated iFhone 4).
Only iOS 6 can somewhat be called a true upgrade and 4S will still get it.
Only people who want to throw money will buy it instead of the 4S or an Android or WP8 if they are no iFanatics.(No Offence).

Not only are the GS3 and Galaxy Note2 highly functional BUT they also have a great balance of incredible functionality, features, power and speed. No other smartphones combines all that in one as brilliantly as those two do. :)

The iPhone5 will indeed sell in truckloads at every store its available in, but IMO, the GS3 will steal quite a bit of its thunder, especially when its Android4.1 JellyBean update arrives. Its actually quite amazing how things have changed in the last 5years. :)

and to the writer of this article, you must be, i don't know....where are the xperia T or xperia V? one thing i know, is you shouldn't write for tech sites.

I think the fact that most people don't think about the Xperia phones just means sony needs to market there phones better. Sony has some awesome phones with the best screens but they market there phones worse than HP did WebOS (if you recall lol).

Impressed with the Lumia 920 as it has NFC and wireless recharging which the i5 suprisingly does not. Main question is what do you pair it up with in tablet form. The Surface? If I get a Samsung Note 2, I can pair it with an Asus Infinity 700 . I can also wait for a BB10 to pair with my PLAYBOOK 64GB.

Fact remains no one will beat Apple in terms of sales. I would be surprised if The iPhone 5 did not sell as much as the 4s. why? Because

1. Many people are tied to the eco-system via iTunes.
2. Brand loalty
3. its a good device

The most important factor is that Apple has

4. Cult like following - it is almost a religion and Steve Jobs is seen as almost a deity. who is the greatest technological mind ever ( never mind That his partner Steve Woz was the real engineer behind Apple or countless other engineers)

Like a cult Apple tells you what you need or do not need and that their way is the better way. do not question them ( read their Genius sales manual ). You need what they have because without it your life is incomplete.

I hate to say it but they really have nailed marketing which is the art of gettting people to believe that your product is above and beyond the competition even though it may not be.
and to create loyal followers who will buy from you over and over again no matter what. Simply brilliant.

I think, that even though these phones are... well better than the iPhone in almost every way, really, they won't be able to outsell the iPhone. Because non of them (maybe now the GSIII) are really iconic on the smartphone market. When people think 'smartphone' their mind goes straight to 'iPhone', and when purchasing a smartphone, I think that people who don't know much about Android phones, just won't consider them as serious competitors. I have a friend, who, when the iPhone 5 was announced, said that the display, LTE and the camera are the best in the world, and would't believe me when I told him that Android devices have had these features for months.
