5" Droid Incredible X to be the... Google Nexus 5?

0. phoneArena 24 Sep 2012, 06:21 posted on

Geez, it's pretty busy here in the world of mobile these days. Last week we had the announcement of the new Windows Phone-powered HTCs and the launch of the iPhone 5, but this week is also starting strongly, as we now have this crazy rumor going that the 5" Droid Incredible X, which we've seen leak a few times, will end up being a device called Google Nexus 5...

on VZW? Pass. A GSM pentaband version would get my eye though.

However, knock the camera down to 8mpx and give it a nice lens instead, and get realistic with the memory.. 16 or 32 (preferable) and 2 gigs of ram. Lets also knock it down to a 720p RGB LCD2/S-AMoled HD screen.
AND KEEP THAT BEZEL TINY!

Why? Because I dont want to spend 700 for an unlocked phone. Get it to where they offer it for 400-500 unlocked through google play to launch.

GSM networks are quad-band and 3G ones are pentaband. I think you are confusing the both.

eeh no.
There are 5 GSM frequencies. When you include the 4 standard GSM frequencies + Tmobile's 3g/4g frequencies its called pentaband.

The unlocked galaxy nexus sold in the Google Play store is pentaband. It will work on every 2g/3g/4g GSM carrier in the world.

Knowing Google, they will most definitely sell it on Google Play unlocked, as well as on a carrier. Most likely within the $400-500 range. So all of the phablet lovers that want nice stock Android on a 5+ inch display can have the option to do so without having to get custom roms.

the galaxy nexus was more expensive than that at first ($650 at launch if i remember) and it didnt have near the specs. To have any hope of the price coming down, the specs need to come back to earth a bit.

Yeah, the display needs to be 720p instead of 1080. And maybe they should stick with a dual S4 Pro instead of a quad. If they can keep the Nexus 7 at 200, the idea of 400-500 is feasible

well from all the rumors lately it seems probable that there'll be more than one new Nexus phone here soon. there may be a Moto Nexus yet.

I can only hope. I might actually have to settle for a Sony if there isn't a Moto Nexus, and assuming HTC won't make a smaller version of this Nexus 5...

If it has a quad S4 Pro, and you enjoy stock Android vs. Touchwiz, then definitely the HTC. HTC is known for having better build quality than Samsung as well, so that's a plus.

I will buy one as long as it has a removable battery. I go through several batteries a day on my GNexus.

If it's a Nexus there is no Sense. Although you could root it and add it.

Look at all the thumbs down going out on actual discussions lol. Must be a i$heeep running around somewhere. Like HTC or not, if this device is Nexus stock, it could be a huge win for HTC and VZW this holiday season.
