4.6-inch Motorola handset leaks out: is it the Droid Fighter?
1. bobfreking55 (Posts: 866; Member since: 15 Jul 2011)
I'm not an avid motorola fan or of verizon, but from what I've seen in support, they suck. After months, you're forever alone. :/ Motorola needs a flagship phone and it's not going to be a droid and it must not be sold only to the red carrier.
28. Chronos (Posts: 258; Member since: 25 Feb 2012)
Agreed. A flagship series for Motorola is needed. HTC already established their series, it's time for Motorola.
40. CM_Punk (banned) (Posts: 173; Member since: 13 Mar 2012)
Motorola phones typically suck. Are surprised? Anytime you buy something that's from them, you're typically taking a big risk at being abandoned when it comes for update time later on.
66. bioappberry (Posts: 22; Member since: 27 Nov 2011)
So you're saying that the Bionic, Razr, Razr Maxx are not good phones? I will concur on the fact that other phones have not been the best, but understand smart phones of this variety are still relatively new.
2. JBz007 (Posts: 63; Member since: 02 Mar 2012)
I'm ready to upgrade my og Droid X and I do enjoy Motorola's phones but in order for me to get this it needs to have one of the next gen processors in it. If it has an S4 or Tegra 3 then I will get it. But I won't if it has the current processors, not when the "superphones" are so close. This looks good just give me a BA processor and I'm sold.
19. Ubi2447 (Posts: 131; Member since: 14 Feb 2012)
I'm in the exact same boat as you. Droid X and looking for a high end next-gen phone before I use my upgrade. Important for me is a higher res screen than the RAZR and a longer bat life close to the Maxx. After my girlfriend got the htc rezound and my best friend got the Galaxy Nexus, I'm pretty disappointed by the display quality on the RAZR. And the camera on the Gnex was just awful.... So I'm still waiting.
Dont make me buy an unlocked htc One X this year, Verizon.
25. Sinaps (Posts: 60; Member since: 27 Jul 2010)
Same here. OG Droid X. Really wanting the Razr Maxx, hopefully this thing will carry a similar battery. Still hoping for a Verizon version of the Galaxy Note.
60. Wildmanfan (Posts: 238; Member since: 15 Jul 2010)
You and I both waiting for the Galaxy Note, Journal, hey, whatever you want to call it, we at VZW want it!
3. RORYREVOLUTION (Posts: 3108; Member since: 12 Jan 2010)
Wait 2 months after this releases for the Fighter Maxx!
5. troybuilt (Posts: 155; Member since: 16 Dec 2011)
Isn't that the truth. Then Big Red will charge an extra 100-200 on a 2 year cost for it.
12. RORYREVOLUTION (Posts: 3108; Member since: 12 Jan 2010)
Thats why I got the Galaxy Nexus. It might not have a quad core processor or best camera in the world but i love the display and ICS and will continue to get updates while the rest are collecting dusts. This looks like it could be a good device but both Motorola and Verizon have screwed their customers over multiple times. Droid X2, Droid 3, Bionic, Razr, Razr Maxx, Droid 4 and now this device. I will SMH in shame if they do it again.
41. CM_Punk (banned) (Posts: 173; Member since: 13 Mar 2012)
LOL, continue getting updates? You mean like the Nexus S and Nexus One? Or what about Samsung's poor track record for crappy phones that tend to have all kinds of reception issues?
44. RORYREVOLUTION (Posts: 3108; Member since: 12 Jan 2010)
Good to see you are still trolling Miz.
59. CM_Punk (banned) (Posts: 173; Member since: 13 Mar 2012)
Are you blind? CM Punk and The Miz are two entirely different wrestlers.
64. RORYREVOLUTION (Posts: 3108; Member since: 12 Jan 2010)
Im not talking about the wrestlers im talking about you. Whos username was The_Miz. Why you are in denial about it is beyond me. You troll just like him and its wwe, miz hasnt posted since you started and its not hard to put it all together.
61. Wildmanfan (Posts: 238; Member since: 15 Jul 2010)
LOL! NICE! I like that. That really put a smile on my face and I had a s**tty day. Thanks.
4. troybuilt (Posts: 155; Member since: 16 Dec 2011)
Am I missing something here. As a RAZR MAXX owner myself, the Verizon logo is also on the bottom. The picture in comparison looks more like the the Droid RAZR and not the MAXX. The Motorola logo at the top is polished in chrome while the Maxx has a black chrome finish. I think the poster needs to correct this mistake.
7. squallz506 (banned) (Posts: 1075; Member since: 19 Oct 2011)
" The leaked picture shows the Droid Fighter side-to-side with the Droid RAZR,"
It is the razr. Read before you post.
8. troybuilt (Posts: 155; Member since: 16 Dec 2011)
LOL! It does. My bad. I guess I misread the article.
31. PAPINYC (banned) (Posts: 2315; Member since: 30 Jul 2011)
You are correct, the phone on the left is the DROID RAZR™ (or, could be the MAXX™); I do not know what the phone on the right is. My educated guess is they both images of the RAZR; the left being the DROID RAZR™ (with a distorted perspective to appear larger, while the right being the European Motorola RAZR™ (or, Asian Market variant).
This is just a story for the rumour mill; relax RAZR™/MAXX™ owners.
6. troybuilt (Posts: 155; Member since: 16 Dec 2011)
I'll be surprised if this phone "Droid Fighter" will even have ICS. It seems to me like Motorola hasn't released "ONE" phone with ICS and still no updates to ICS on it's recent released phones i.e. Droid RAZR MAXX.
34. KingKurogiii (Posts: 5711; Member since: 23 Oct 2011)
So what's the tally for phones with ICS on the market so far?
yeah, i thought so.
46. troybuilt (Posts: 155; Member since: 16 Dec 2011)
Really? Are you not reading the news updates? HTC is releasing several ICS phones and releasing ICS updates to it's current phones. Samsung has released ICS to it's GS II phones. What's Moto doing? Nothing!
What now? Yeah, I thought so. We can play these kiddie games if you want troll. lol
48. KingKurogiii (Posts: 5711; Member since: 23 Oct 2011)
we know Moto is going to release updates to their lines the only difference with HTC is that they've shown us what they're going to give us. we've already seen what Moto is going to be pushing but they just haven't found the right time to show us yet. it'll probably be when they announce the Fighter and Samsug has released ICS to ONE phone and it's more like an ICS touched up version of TW4.
=ofEgPEwTWrg&list=LLYG2KF_BhDL pj2y20A_ZBfA&index=3&feature=p lpp_video
nothing BIG with ICS has actually HAPPENED yet.
10. Dijin (Posts: 6; Member since: 09 Jan 2012)
I just bought my maxx, darn. saaw this coming. was telling my friend, watch me finally upgrade and the new one will be announced.
11. threeline (Posts: 267; Member since: 11 Sep 2011)
I thought Moto was going to slow down releases of their phoens to focus on high-end? Doesn't this like make the 3rd version on the Droid Razr already with Razr, Razr Maxx and this Droid Fighter which is basically a Droid Razr with a bigger screen? I am staying away from Moto because by the time you get your new phone home the upgraded Maxx version is announced!
18. cfprelude (Posts: 137; Member since: 27 Oct 2011)
so ur going to stay away from a manufacturer because they continually improve....? because they dont take a year to come out with 1 or 2 new features? i'm not sure how that makes sense. i love it, keep coming out with new stuff to give more choices to consumers. this is a strange time we live in that people complain about too many choices.... and btw, typically when a new model comes out u see the previous get a slight discount so i say come out with 4 or 5 more in early 2012 so that the current line up (which will still be beasts of phones) are down to a more respectable $99 on contract :)
21. threeline (Posts: 267; Member since: 11 Sep 2011)
So your saying its fair for Motorola to sell a customer a device they are calling our cutting edge flagship phone knowing full well the uprgraded version is sitting in the warehouse ready to be shipped in a month instead of being honest and saying, "well we will be having an upgraded version of this one in a month so if you wait you can make a choice of the two and on top of that this model will be discounted." Is that good honest business?
24. bioappberry (Posts: 22; Member since: 27 Nov 2011)
see the problem is that you (threeline) don't understand. Phones have transformed a lot over the last several years. They are forced to come out with new phones to compete with other phone makers devices.
22. bioappberry (Posts: 22; Member since: 27 Nov 2011)
lets wait and see what the software on the device has too. I mean look at what comes stock on the Razr, Razr Maxx. motocast, quick office pro, intigrated email, printing via bluetooth. Of course all of this is easy to get from the market but most of it you would need to pay for, whereas it is free and comes stock on the Razr series. They keep improving everything on the phones. and this is to threeline... how long ago was the razr announced? I would say that the amount of time from that announcement to the announcement of their next phone would definitely be ample evidence that they are slowing down on how many phones they put out.
13. MotorolaAndroidIndonesia (Posts: 24; Member since: 18 Apr 2011)
Possible have Quad Core and 2 GB RAM.
35. KingKurogiii (Posts: 5711; Member since: 23 Oct 2011)
yeah, because Gingerbread works just fine without Capacitive Buttons. :P
14. LUCUSS (Posts: 1; Member since: 19 Mar 2012)
Lol. So how many bionic, razor, and Maxx owners still feel they are getting ics anytime soon? Motorola sure can play their customers and suck. Assuming the fighter of course will have ics and the fighter plus months later will promise jellybean.
I am not attacking the gingerbread users, I just think it is garbage how the company is saying one thing and doing another. I feel your pain.
I bet if I go into a verizon retail store the sales people will still try and sell me a maxx or bionic over a nexus for the commission and don't worry ICS will be on those phones soon and is in development.
16. Dijin (Posts: 6; Member since: 09 Jan 2012)
I don't mind the waiting game, I remember getting gingerbread on my X and it had some problems. I want IC to work smoothly on the razr/maxx. I mean yes they take their time but it could be for a better reason, could be.
20. deezy (Posts: 46; Member since: 10 Feb 2011)
I do have ICS on my Razr...sure it's AOKP but all of the features I use on my phone work and I don't have to worry about Blur
23. bioappberry (Posts: 22; Member since: 27 Nov 2011)
we make more money on selling you a nexus. so no your wrong. the razr is just a better phone. you can put GO launcer EX and have a better UI than ICS.
45. s.r.vzwrep (Posts: 2; Member since: 20 Mar 2012)
You obviously have no idea how comission works so let me enlighten your ignorant brain it's a percentage based on the selling price of everything. The only reason motorola gets so much support on the sales floor is despite the "poor upgrade support" I see less motorola phones come into my store with their owners pouting while saying what is it doing how can i fix it i see more fascinates, incredibles and lg ally's with issues. They upgrade when it works correctly ICS probably has problems with capacitive buttons or something stupid like that and motorola wont push a update for their devices if the device is likly to fail so have fun with your delusions.
50. SupermanayrB (limited) (Posts: 571; Member since: 20 Mar 2012)
I have VZW but I work at an AT&T retailer & I see more iPhones, Captivates & messaging phones come in for problems other than Atrix/Atrix 2 users. I saw more Evo's & Blackberry's come in for repair than the Photon when I was at a Sprint retailer. That's why I love Moto phones.
BTW, get me on at VZW. Lol.
17. threeline (Posts: 267; Member since: 11 Sep 2011)
That's their main selling point, don't worry as soon as ICS is released it will be pushed out. Now, there investigating to see if ICS is even possible on the Razr or can we make more money by making the Fighter with a bigger screen with ICS and after we sell the hell out of that one then we may decide to push ICS out to our other phones.
26. kanagadeepan (Posts: 922; Member since: 24 Jan 2012)
Motorola, atleast bring this phone as world-edition one.... Show your good face (plus JUMBO BATTERY) to GSM users as well...
I anyday prefer BEST battery life than saving a milli-second in life here and there by a super-fast-QuadCore processor phones comparing Dual-core MAXX...
37. Cwebb (Posts: 501; Member since: 05 Oct 2011)
One of the advantages of quad-core is saving power with the 5th core to run the simple tasks, besides the power advantage. Now its not as good as slapping on a 3000 mAh battery, but it is a helluva lot tthinner. Now if it only it was a perfect world and the manufacturers did both!
27. A.aoudi (Posts: 125; Member since: 14 Feb 2012)
Looks like a Razr on steroids but i like it.
29. DroidDoesVZW (Posts: 9; Member since: 19 Oct 2009)
Couldn't they have come up with a more awesome name? Like DROID DOMINATE or DROID TERMINATE or something awesome like that? DROID CONQUER, DROID OVERTAKE?
38. Cwebb (Posts: 501; Member since: 05 Oct 2011)
DROID FIGHTER /capslock isn't too bad of a name compared to the "Photon," to name just one
30. Wildmanfan (Posts: 238; Member since: 15 Jul 2010)
Just watch VZW disappoint us once again. You'll see. VZW is like the Pittsburgh Steelers without Hines Ward.
42. parkwaydr (Posts: 572; Member since: 07 Sep 2011)
Oh dude, that's harsh, even for Verizon.
62. Wildmanfan (Posts: 238; Member since: 15 Jul 2010)
I mean, I don't get it. It's like AT&T has the Note. Now they have 8 phones or more that are upcoming. All their phones have over a 4.5 inch screen. They have the Samsung Beam that is a projector phone. It's like, VZW doesn't invest in new technology. I don't give a damn how thin a phone is, I don't give a damn about the design as long as I have a phone that has the most updated technology and a big screen. You know what I mean?
43. CM_Punk (banned) (Posts: 173; Member since: 13 Mar 2012)
LMAO, that was the best burn I've ever seen.
63. Wildmanfan (Posts: 238; Member since: 15 Jul 2010)
And I'm a die-hard Steelers fan too! I just want the Note so bad to be on VZW.
32. theBankRobber (Posts: 681; Member since: 22 Sep 2011)
No buttons on the bottom. Looks like all ICS phones coming out will have on screen 3 buttons. Maybe thats why the screen is 4.6"!!
33. Saamic (Posts: 119; Member since: 20 Feb 2012)
For me the big thing that keeps me away from upgrading on Verizon is that no phones have a strong camera. If the Galaxy nexus had a stronger camera (similar to the one on the galaxy sII) and the same battery as the razr maxx I would've bought it. But hey that's an idealistic phone so I shouldn't get too carried away
36. KingKurogiii (Posts: 5711; Member since: 23 Oct 2011)
...you've got to be kidding me.
they better appease us Razr owners by getting ICS out to the Razr and the MAXX when they announce this.
47. troybuilt (Posts: 155; Member since: 16 Dec 2011)
Now you're agreeing with my post? hahaha
Yeah, I thought so. lol
I just said this 2 pages back. I have the Droid Razr Maxx. No updates for any Moto Phones, unless you have the XYBoard.
49. KingKurogiii (Posts: 5711; Member since: 23 Oct 2011)
i'm not agreeing with your post guy and i'll show you why.
"I'll be surprised if this phone "Droid Fighter" will even have ICS" it's pretty obvious in just this picture that it's going to have ICS...
"It seems to me like Motorola hasn't released "ONE" phone with ICS and still no updates to ICS on it's recent released phones i.e. Droid RAZR MAXX." okay so? that's the most that most OEMs have updated so far. big deal.
"...you've got to be kidding me." is me showing disbelief and annoyance about Motorola releasing another Flagship phone after the Razr and the Razr MAXX.
"they better appease us Razr owners by getting ICS out to the Razr and the MAXX when they announce this." i don't care that i haven't gotten ICS yet but i would hope that when Motorola is ready to show the world something of theirs running ICS they'll hold up their promise about updating the Razr ASAP.
51. troybuilt (Posts: 155; Member since: 16 Dec 2011)
Wow! I'm really shocked that you went through so much trouble to copy/paste/dissect my posts. I'm flattered.
Let me return the honor back to you.
it's pretty obvious in just this picture that it's going to have ICS...Do you always believe everything you see from a picture with a black screen? lol
okay so? that's the most that most OEMs have updated so far. big deal. Are you really not seeing the big picture here? Failed Verizon/Motorola promises have not been met. Fragmentation is growing at an alarming rate. Motorola keeps silent and delays the update, if not indefinitely. It was set to release Q2, but has been changed to "“Evaluation & Planning” with “Further details to follow”. recently purchased by Google and still falls short on updating their flagship phones.
"...you've got to be kidding me." is me showing disbelief and annoyance about Motorola releasing another Flagship phone after the Razr and the Razr MAXX. I have to agree with this statement, but when you think this phone will officially launch? I wouldn't get my hopes up on it. Right now it's a picture nothing more to me.
"they better appease us Razr owners by getting ICS out to the Razr and the MAXX when they announce this." i don't care that i haven't gotten ICS yet but i would hope that when Motorola is ready to show the world something of theirs running ICS they'll hold up their promise about updating the Razr ASAP.Yeah so? That's all I've been saying and you took your own post and responded to it. Good work.
52. KingKurogiii (Posts: 5711; Member since: 23 Oct 2011)
it's no trouble but i see you went through the same so called trouble to dissect my posts so i suppose the honor is all mine.
no but i speculate and judging from the evidence i have so far which is this picture it's more likely to be running ICS than Gingerbread because of the fact that there's no Capacitive Buttons on it.
i've said this before. Motorola has made it clear that the Razr is taking priority in their plans for updates. what i believe this means is that Moto is actually readying builds of ICS for the Razr and sending them to Verizon but they're not clearing them. Moto has no control over that. all they can do is fix whatever Verizon says to fix and send the newer builds to them for evaluation. this is the case with all OEMs and it's happened before between Motorola and Verizon with the Droid X and again when Moto was prepared to unlock the Bootloaders for their devices on Verizon but Verizon didn't allow it.
well just a picture sure has gotten a mighty rise out of you huh? you're just spouting meaningless nonsense.
you obviously feel cheated or something that Moto hasn't pushed ICS to the Razr and what i'm saying is that i don't really care that it hasn't happened yet because i know it will. good things come to those who wait.
