3G on the Apple iPod touch made possible by the Sprint Peel case
A ZTE-made case for the iPod touch called Sprint Peel is making rounds at the FCC. The music player received an update to iOS 4, and this case is allowing it to connect to Sprint's 3G network to use its data services while on the go. Besides serving as a sleeve, it turns the iPod touch into a Wi-Fi hotspot as well.

There is no word on the pricing just yet, but it seems to be for the current iPod touch generation, judging from the headphone jack opening at the bottom. We will soon find out all about the Sprint Peel as it has already
received the FCC's nod of approval.

Ummm the Ipod touch already has iOS 4. Kinda makes me wonder about all these supposed facts.

Pritty cool. I saw a similar thing on engadget that converts it to a phone over in Europe.

Thsi has got to be one of the coolest things I have ever seen. I have already made a bastardized iPhone using an iPod touch and Verizon Mi-Fi 2200, but this is wayyyyy cooler.....

I mean, if using SKype, we're talking about unlimited EVERYTHING for what, $64.99/mo> ($59.99 for SPrint 3G svc + $5 for unlimited US/Canada Skype).

or 69.99 for a sprint 450 everything data plan and you don't have to deal w/ skype.... if the majority of your calls are US cel phones. that plan crushes for most people AND, if you're lucky enought to have an employer discount, it's even cheaper. btw, this article just made my day. ~ CTMQ (chuckling to myself quietly... i haven't LOL'ed in a while :::chuckle chuckle:::)

You must remember that the itouch is not a phone. I don't see how paying for 450 minutes would be useful on the itouch format, seeing as it doesn't have an ESN or even a place to put a SIM card. Sprint being CDMA couldn't give it a SIM card anyway. The internet case, however, is an awesome idea to get the itouch users onto thier network. Genius.
