360-degree live videos coming to Periscope soon

It looks like Periscope is still going, as Twitter has updated the livestreaming app with 360-degree live video broadcasting straight to the social network's timeline. The videos load like regular live broadcasts, with users having the ability to tilt and rotate their phones to get full panorama shots.

This is the second Periscope-related update to happen in a while, following the addition of a live button to the Twitter app that lets users broadcast live video straight from the app itself. The downsizing social network claims it's still invested in Periscope and wants to continue serving the app's community.

This goes in contrast to Vine, which is being closed and transformed into a camera app. Its users will be able to take six-second video miniatures and share them on Twitter.

Currently, 360-degree broadcasts are being tested among a "small group of partners". The feature will be rolled out more broadly in the coming weeks.
