36 New York City subway stations to get Verizon service later this year

Soon, large rats and the homeless won't be the only things hanging around New York City subway stations 24 hours a day; Verizon has come to terms with Transit Wireless to bring Big Red's 3G and 4G LTE service to 76 Big Apple subway stations with 36 locations expected to be up and running later this year. Over the next few weeks, Big Red will start installing equipment in Transit Wireless' secure Base Station Hotel facilities...

Yeah I thought Sprint already had service there. How about they split the subway and let everyone roam on the other. That should help keep the costs down.

I'm amazed they haven't put signal on all stations and all carriers.. In my 3rd world country (Argentina), we have 2g signal on all carriers on all stations (and between stations too!), and in some carriers we have HSPA+

not only inn argentina in mexico city DF ALL metro stations have 3g hspa signal with telcel , only telcel works underground movistar,iusacell dont work underground only telcel works underground.

Well, in Argentina all the 3 (or 4 if you're counting Nextel) work underground (Personal, Movistar, Claro).
Claro has HSPA+ in all stations, Personal has old 3g on some stations, Movistar has nothing (as usual.)

No, take the amount of people on verizon that use the subway often and less than 1% could care less.
