A Google spokesperson told TechCrunch that the Google Play Store had gone over the 15 billion download mark "a few weeks ago"; Google had responded after a U.K. paper said that the Google Play Store was approaching 15 billion downloads...

Apple just paid out $4 billion to developers and Google only $320million. No wonder not many developers want to develop for Android. That probably explains the quality of the apps too. Not much surprise there.

you do realize that most apps on iOS are paid apps and most apps on android are free apps, right? They get paid long term from advertising, not short term from upfront sales. And according to the last statistics posted, developers that made GOOD apps, made more off of android in the long run than they did with apple.
