14% of buyers would purchase the next iPhone, demand at all time high

0. phoneArena 23 Jul 2012, 09:00 posted on

Despite all the leaks and rumors, we don't really know what the next iPhone (iPhone 5?) will look like. After all, Apple does a great job at keeping its products a secret until the moment they are announced. However, there are hordes of people who would most likely buy the next iPhone anyway, as a study conducted by 451 Research indicates...

no, iphone is a good investment because even if u use it for 2 to 3 years and sell it, you will get a good price because apple will still update the software of that phone

Thats not true anymore with iOS6 not updating to older phones and even some of the phones more recent aren't getting all the features of the update. Just sayin.

but that doesn't reduce the demand because those phones will get all the latest apps and games from the app store

i am shocked that you don't know about that survey, ask the developers who make android apps, they will tell you why they like apple, why there are more developers for apple than android even if there are more android devices in the world

Yeah, but they cut the features of the OS. My sister has a 2nd gen iPod touch and can't use wallpapers even though it's running iOS 4.

atleast you get all the apps and games which is great and we all know that ios devices need to be jailbroken to enjoy all the features, its a great thing because you will get more customizations than android plus no one can file a lawsuit against a jailbroken idevice because apple is not providing those features...........i will say that ios devices are the best in the world provided that those devices are jailbroken........an up to date os is required for all the apps and games....you can get those extra widgets, tweaks backgrounds via jailbreak

Every year the same old same old. This happens only in the U.S. Outside of the U.S. the iPhone doesn't sell like Android does. Even if this "all time" demand comes through fruition it will STILL be second best to Android, as always.

Just wait until the phone makers start to push Jelly Bean, with its smoothness that rivals the iPhone, with a VERY competent voice search that is not a gimmick like Siri, & it's overall polish, it's going to be VERY hard for people to pass up.

iOS6 is just not up to par to Jelly Bean. Google is going in the right direction & is innovating at a pace that Apple just can't match.

Remember people only buy Apple because of word of mouth, but that word of mouth little by little is turning in to Android talk not Apple talk.

yeah.. it won't sell like android, why? Because android have so many OEMs, while iPhone is manufactured by apple, alone.

Unlike android, iPhones doesn't have ranges of phones that can compete with the android ranges. It just sells its outdated product to compete with the existing entry-level/mid-range devices in android ecosystem.

is the iphone 4s slow?
can it not play games and things with cutting edge graphics?
does it have problems with lagging and loading things?

if it doesn't, i would suggest it is in fact not outdated, but perfect for the expereince apple designed it to have

SERIOUSLY DUDE? WHAT'S YOUR POINT? You didn't understand what i was saying? please, put a comment in a related topic. What i was saying here is the fact that apple doesn't create other ranges of phones. It just creates a single model each year and sells the outdated one(or should i say predecessor) to compete with the mid range devices in android ecosystem.

I didn't say that iphone 4s is slow. It's blazing fast. I didn't say it can't play games and things. it's one of the best gaming device.

What i was talking about in the comment was the fact that iphone 3gs(a phone released 3 years ago) is still for sale. And yeah, if you say that it's not an outdated phone, i will just laugh on you because you can't seem to get my point.

I read a survey on Mashable:
Option 1: I want to buy iPhone 5
Option 2: No, iPhone 4S is still big
Option 3: Not sure

I wonder how much Apple pays to have such "surveys" conducted?

And they also say iPhone 4S sales slow b-c ppl wait for iPhone 5, there's no word linking that to brisk sales of GS3. I want to ask the author of the article why many people are buying 1X, GS3 and not wait for iPhone 5.

The thing is, people are into apple products not because of it's better than the other. They buy or will buy apple products because they can boast it's price. They buy these products because it shows other people that they can afford such product.

Most people today don't even have idea if it's fast or slow.. as long as it's apple, they will buy it. They don't have ideas on what's inside the product. They just look at what's on the outside. What's important to them is it looks premium. And that's how apple beats samsung. Even with not much of an advertisement, people will buy products from apple because, it's from apple.

Not even surprise with this survey. People want to update their iPhones even if it doesn't have that much idea what were the updates that new iPhone brings.

In all likelihood, all current iPhone 4 and lower owners will spring for the 5, if they are still interested in owning an Apple product. There will also be a good percentage of people who own the 4s who don't also mind breaking/extending their contract to have the latest and greatest Apple has to offer. There will be a very high demand as always, regardless of the specs. I doubt that it'll challenge the SIII in terms of the 10 million units off the bat, but I think it'll catch up eventually and become the individual leading phone once again.

Yes of course, it's just the Apple fans that are sheeps. Nevermind a vast majority here will buy any product from Samsung's Galaxy line. How long have people been fawning over a Note 2? Since a mere few weeks after the first one was launched. I've already seen a couple comments about an S4 only a couple weeks after the S3 was launched. How about the Nexus line from Google? Don't be so biased, Android has tons more sheep on this site than Apple does.

Did either of our comments discuss the benefits of either phone? No, they were in discussion of each company having their own respective fanboys who will buy the next best phone the company they support has to offer. And unless you have a copy of both iOS6 and JB I don't think you could give me much of anything you haven't read off of a site instead of operated, cause we both know the RAZR hardly has ICS let alone JB.

My last 4 phones are:
HTC TILT I - WIN 6/6.5
HTC ARIA (returned for...)
Samsung Captivate
Moto RAZR

Captivate may be the best of all of them in terms of modding as it has Jelly Bean on it right now.

I would be more inclined to get the next version of the iPhone if it weren't for Apple's business practices (aka how they are trying to eliminate competition by suing and banning it.

Let's be honest here, we know the amount of buyers who are going to get the iPhone based on it just being an iPhone vastly outweighs those who actually have a valid use for it. I'd say just get a GS3 now & you'll already be further along than the iPhone 5 whenever it comes out, unless you have an Apple household (Apple TV, iPads, iMacs etc.) then go for the new iPhone.
