I KNOW they got the 7.8 update - I KNOW that Microsoft said that the hardware existing at the time could not support the new WP8; that it was new from the ground up and built on an entirely different architecture. But that 7.8 update was nothing more than a consolation prize - simple appeasement, NOTHING MORE: and not much consolation for users who had JUST BOUGHT their Lumia 900s. Because more effort would still go towards WP8 - more developers would make apps for WP8. And thats how it turned out. Have YOU read any news about forthcoming WP7.8 updates recently??? Many new apps I've seen can't even support 512mb WP8 devices at first, you seriously think anybody is worrying about the WP7 crowd right now? Thats the point I'm making!

they had to made the change, to get WP to the same kernel as Windows 8 and windows RT, to get compatibility between platforms (easier ports and most likely single unified OS in the future)

WP7 updates are unlikely to come, for those how bought a high end phones got a bit screwed.
But on android toy don't get much better support (unless it's a nexus)

as for the 512MB support

$500 for an RT tablet = FAIL. Nokia is gaining a bit too much confidence back in their brand recognition. Part of their success in the phone platform has been their products have been offered cheaper through carriers than their Android and iOS equivalents.

Love everything about this tablet if the rumors are true other than RT..they are going to have to come out with something compelling to convince me that RT is good. Don't get me wrong, I love my pro but rt? Not so sure this is a good move.

I wonder if the RT mive was for battery life mainly? If so that makes a littke sense, if not I'm lost as well.

Really Nokia? REALLY?

Is there nobody ANYWHERE in the decision making chain that sense enough to look at all the market data out there and STOP with the RT disaster before it's too late?

Make a full win 8 tablet for iPad prices and I'm sold.. I'd gladly pick up a Nokia tablet for that kind of money..for RT? NO WAY.

This has epic fail written all over it.

Nokia's new tagline should be: If there's an easy way to achieve a decent marketshare, then why try it that way? (we'll take the harder route!)

We need an i5 level tablet that is about the size of a 10 inch tablet with Windows 8 and a keyboard attachment. Whoever does it first will have a huge hit on their hands.

I Still think Nokia has a Windows 8 tablet set up to come out and will probably just make a few Windows RT tablets to use up the Windows RT licenses they already bought from Microsoft.

They should drop the "Phone" and "RT".. it should just merge it into "Windows Mobile" ( Or a similar name.. I think mobile would work.. as only true geeks would remember that name ). If RT was "Dropped" and they made all Windows Phone Apps work on RT (They should be able too..) then they need to drop RT and just have a "Mobile" OS and a Desktop OS.. That's how Apple is seen.. and its not a problem. The problem with MS is that has three OSs' and not all apps currently work on all three.. thats simply one too many.

why RT version for that price tag? I don't see this being a huge seller. If it was the full version maybe.

DOA. Specs sound very good on paper but it’s running Windows RT. If this was running Android, Nokia would be a serious player. But RT has to rank right up there with Windows ME and Windows Vista as being the worst OS Microsoft has released. Running RT is like running a gimped version of Windows 8 with no legacy support. We need more powerful Atom processors in full Windows 8 tablets.

I wont apologize for this but Microsoft and Nokia are smoking something. RT tablets should NEVER pass $400. how is it that Acer put out a full blown Win8 8 inch for $370 without a prob? For those that keep saying RT is a flop, failure, blah blah blah do ipads run all the same programs as macs? do android tabs run the same programs as PC or Ubuntu? didn't think so, in other words they all run apps apps apps which is what Rt runs plus Office so shut up

ill be that guy, im buying this the day it comes out

everyone that complains about the app ecosystem, you do remember that a. everyone has to start somewhere, b. the original iphone didnt even have an app store, let alone any apps, c. anyone that actually uses windows 8 (and doesnt complain about it without using it) will flock to windows 8 rt tablets once they realize what they can do with all the interconnectivity

in my opinion hating on other operating systems just because YOU dont like it, is petty, despite what you may think, there are more people in the world than just you

If it was Ipad mini-like pricing, it could have been a runaway hit.

At the current price point... although honestly it is a good price for the specs you're getting, I just cant see it being a big seller.
