I have to agree with videobandit. How is it that Vodafone can own 45% of Verizon Wireless but DT can't own more than 20% of T-Mobile USA? Does not make sense. And you are going to tell me if NTT or Telefonica wanted to buy a US company and invest heavily in the US market, the FCC would reject the buy?

There is no perfect smartphone, never said or implied we should have one. My comment was on call quality, not on the overall aspect of this phone. You must be RIM fan because I see I struck a nerve. You believe smartphones are the best cell phones going today, great. In my experience, if I needed to use it as a phone, I can find some regular dumbphones that have better call quality than a smartphone. The score is very good for a smartphone overall but I look at areas it was reviewed that are important to me.

Will I try to this phone, probably because I should give it a try in a store. And yes I am aware of the factors that go into call quality. You can make excuses for RIM, Motorola, LG, Samsung, Apple, etc.... I don't. I am very harsh as they make advancements in OS, display, connectivity, style but nothhing on call quality. I have not seen or heard any smartphone to stand out in that area as the years go on. We are going on 2010 and smartphone designs and OS UI in them are becoming very appealing. So far, as a phone, not very consistant in this category.

I tend to agree with this Article. If Apple makes a phone specifically for Verizon, AT&T IMHO will lose subs. Not a little but a large amount. All those who left VZW for AT&T & the iPhone will go back. I personally think it will get ugly for AT&T.

Its still Amazing how devices advance in certain areas like screen resolution, size, thickness, OS but call quality is still an issue. Early Smartphones I can see because the technology may not have been there to improve the quality. Today in 2009 GOING ON 2010 how is piss poor, Wax paper sounding call quality still an issue. It's just RIM, there are others too who still do not offer good quality. I know quality is different from user to user but how would someone buy this smartphone after reading this review?

Any minor thought I MIGHT of had of buying the TOUR is done! Next time RIM, next time.

No parent wants think their kids are cheating. I am sure schools are aware of this but what can they do? Do schools install devices that disable cell phones like Hospitals during test times?

The 1 million sold is impressive but if I am not mistaken, the 3GS would be available in the US, UK and Canada on the same date. What is the number for the US? The total number is impressive but what did it do in the US, no offense to UK or Canada.

Yes I agree with you. I too think there are bigger things to worry about than exclusive deals.

But if it does happen, it would be interesting to see how these carriers will attract new customers. Let's say the iPhone, Bold, Storm, G1, G2, all are available on all carriers, now those carriers have to come up with other ways for them to sign up new subscribers. Maybe limited promotional plans, offering extra features or services on certain phones. Not a bad idea. This will benefit the customer which is what's important.

Don't get me wrong, I am not knocking candybar style smartphones. I just don't like the look of the EOS. Now I know its just a sketch and hopefully it looks better when it's finished. There are some really nice candybar smartphones like the BB 8520 for T-Mobile. The BB TOUR & BB BOLD are also good looking candybar smartphones to me as well. And yes the Samsung Jack is a very nice stylish smartphone. Those are nice and hopefully Palm takes a page from BB and Samsung on candybar style phones.

The Pre is definitely a nice Smartphone. I had a chance to use one for a little while in a Sprint store. The better Palm does, the better smartphones Palm will put out. Let's see what Rubinstein has planned for Palm. Going to VZW, AT&T and T-Mobile would be the best possible scenario for Palm.

I am definitely looking forward to future devices, a bit skeptical of the EOS. Looks like a Centro, not impressed. Hopefully they can take a page from HTC and come up with a smartphone that looks like Touch HD but with WebOS.

I hear what acipollo is say. I know if you comepare VZW, AT&T, T-MO and Sprint for PDA bundle plans you might not be too far off in price. For me, For me, I looked at what was included in the price. I like the fact that Sprint throws in more perks that would cost me extra on any other carrier. That is why I am leaning towards Sprint. That and I like the Pre as well. Throw all that I just mentioned on Sprint and well that's great for me.
