I was already bored with the iPhone, but now with a 2.8 inch display? Really? I would have to agree with the above comment and question who in the world would buy that phone, but then I remember all the mindless sheep who want an iPhone because its the "it" device, even though an iPhone with a display that small would be far inferior to at least a couple of Verizon's current phones.
The review keeps talking about how beautiful this phone is and how great it is... I think this is one of the dumbest and least useful looking phones I have ever seen. I really can't see myself ever having a use for a 21:9 aspect ratio screen.
Don't tell anybody that- notice the flaming i took from pointing out that nobody pays attention to what the number actually means. It's not an absolute scale, but don't try to bring up that. It is unfair to say that the battery gets drained by multitasking, but that doesn't necessarily mean that a very good score of 8.5 is unfair or biased. The 0-10 scale is relative, not an absolute. But nobody wants to hear it.
Does anybody read the "How we rate" section of the page? The numbers aren't really meant to be put up against each other for phones that are in different classes, but rather what they are saying is "How squarely did this manufacturer hit the nail on the head with respect to what they were trying to do?". The newest iPhone is rated lower than the enV Touch, do you really think that they are saying the Touch is a better phone? the Storm2, Imagio and TP2 are not the same type of phone as the Droid, even though they are all smart phones, they are trying to accomplish very different things. Not saying that there is not some bias in the reviews, but just because a certain phone gets a slightly lower score doesnt mean that was the case here. This seems to me to be a very fair review, and accurate, I've had my hands on one and I think everything PhoneArena had to say is quite accurate in this case. Though I do agree that a dig on battery life is not really fair, especially considering it "lasts only a day", that is pretty standard for the type of phone it is.
Same layout, different stores...well yeah, these are internal Verizon documents, from the national retailer department. I.e. it would make sense that they would have the same layout since they are both VERIZON documents, not documents for Sams and Target respectively.
People always compare the Pre and iPhone to the Storm and now the Storm 2. I personally hope that Verizon does get the Pre because it is an excellent device, but I sincerely don't consider any BlackBerry to be in direct competition with the Pre or iPhone. They are in some ways similar, but really in the end are aimed at a different type of user. The Storm is a great phone, as I'm sure the Storm 2 will be, but they are both Blackberrys with excellent multimedia capabilities. At the core you still have a BB and all that goes with it. The Pre and iPhone are great multimedia devices that also do email and applications very well. This "high end multimedia smartphone" is very much what Verizon's lineup is lacking, and the Storm does not entirely fill that void. Bring on the both of them, and make everybody happy!
With BlackBerrys as with most other smartphones, it is possible to leave the device itself powered on while turning the radio or "phone" aspect off. This allows one to use other aspects of the device, such as calendar, MP3 player, games, etc. while not being connected to the network, thereby avoiding work, complying with FAA regulations, not being woken up by 3 A.M. drunk dials. You know, the usual. Hope that helps to de-mystify the magical world of the 'Berry for you.
