Before the Droid launched, the Android platform had 10,000 apps. In less than two weeks, that number has grown to 12,000. With an open development platform and America's largest network subscriber base, how long will it take before the Android marketplace catches up with Apple? And besides, how many tip calculators and fart generators do we really need? The big question should be what is the rate of kept apps vs. unused/uninstalled apps. That should be the real metric of the quality of the apps.
Having the iPhone on ATT is equivalent to driving a Ferrari down a gravel road. It's cool at first, but eventually you realize you can't go as fast as you're meant to. I'm not saying Verizon is a no-brainer, just that it's worth thinking about what you REALLY want and need, not just being a VZW/ATT/iPhone fanboy.
RIM has been doing case studies with the UK police for a few years now on using berries to save time (they don't have to travel back to the office to file paperwork, access databases, etc.). So this really is no surprise.
Aw crap. As an indirect retailer, I really don't care for the whole subsidized netbook thing. I have to spend a ton of money to put one netbook on the shelf, and I hate getting stuck with inventory nobody wants. Good for consumer choice, but I'll just keep selling aircards and mifis and send customers out to get their own netbooks, unless they special order.
Phonearena, I think you got it wrong: WIFI on a phone is a win-win since VZW still gets paid for a data connection but it doesn't take its network bandwidth. MIFI goes through a cellular network, so the win for Verizon here is additional data revenue through tethering plans. And make no mistake, you will have to add a tethering plan if you want to use this phone as a mifi.
But why aren't people backing up their device to another source, like a SIM or SD card or syncing with a computer? Never used a Sidekick, so I don't know what data can and can't be backed up, but I pretty regularly back up my Blackberry.

Also bear in mind that UNTIL the iPhone comes to Verizon, it's business as usual.

When 4G rolls out and VZW starts using SIM cards, then it makes sense for Apple to start using VZW.
