E.N....if it's not hard to recreate something then why has it taken 3 year and 3 months for At&t and Apple to launch MMS for the iPhone? I mean MMS has only been around for 7 years I would hope that's enough time.
Also the Palm App Cat has been live since the day the phone launched. The new one just removes the "Beta" tag and will allow pay apps now instead of all free or trail versions. Not to mention all the software that has been available through Palm's Software Store for years for the old PalmOS.
I think most people have a problem with it reporting your location more than any thing else. I want the phone to send them crash reports ect. When you activate the phone you get the screen in the link below. No one ever reads the fine print but most will check the box to allow location info to be sent. Also go to "Location Services" in the Launcher and the last one is "Background Data Collection" and you can toggle it on or off...problem solved! I have nothing to hide and if the FBI is tracking you down you've got bigger issues anyway. All they need is a subpoena and the carrier will give up the info anyways.
Great point regarding the Storm, an iphone on VZW would hurt RIM Storm sales as they are not your typical BB users.
I would be curious as to how many of the people you see using an iphone for business still do or are think about changing.
Here is a great read by Josh Topolsky Editor-in-chief of Engadget regarding this same topic and he nails it IMO...

RIM is still the leader for Corp. America and I don't see that changing any time soon. Go to any boardroom and ask everyone to pull out there phones and you won't see any iPhones, just RIM and WinMo. I would also like to know how big this table will be. My guess is it will not be sliding into any pockets or snapping on to any holsters, but it might fit in a cargo pocket If anything it will needs it own laptop-like bag. Is it going to have a keyboard or all virtual? Is it just going to be a big ipod touch with HD quality resolution so you can watch your blu-ray movies (iTunes 9)? Maybe it will at least multi-task so someone could try and get work done if they need to but this sounds like something that would be great for long car rides, flights, or just killing time. They will sell a ton of them becasue people will be buying them for their kids (see Wii) but they will still be picking up the BB's for them self.
That will download and install the app. Rest the phone and run the app which is very user friendly.
You may want to look in to the newer version 2.0 and just pay the $10 becasue it looks like it includes an installer and will make is a lot easier for you. The link I posted has all kinds of good info as well as patches/tweeks for the phone as well. I have been reading up this this for about a month becasue I had no previous knowledge of Linux. Also if you did happen to mess up the phone Plam offers WebOS Dorctor that will restore the phone to factory settings.
I added the 1.5 version of My Tether to my Pre over the weekend. As long as you hve root access, it takes about 30 seconds to install. One siple commant will download and install the app as well as a service that is required for it to work. Have not tried the usb or Bluetooth tether yet but the Wifi network worked great. It's like having a Mifi without buying one. Might have to look into 2.0 as I've read it adds WEP and/or WAP encryption.
The home screen is the main thing WinMo people miss if they have switched to the Pre. The nice part is one is already in the works for the Pre and I hope to load it next week once the beta is launch.
Good info fanman had no idea you can't do a speed test with a BB. Looks like it has something to do with the browser blocking certain info and you will receive inaccurate info due to compression and data filtering that bes/bis servers perform. Makes me wonder how many people on this Wired test were on BB's making the results even more worthless...
Here are some real tests that can not be faked by using Wifi.
http://www.dslreports.com/mspeed?domains=1
These are from a mobile speed test site which lists your domain so if you use Wifi it will not show up under the providers domain name. These are much much lower than the numbers above and are a true real world test. Also the number of samples are all more than 2000 for the big 4 with Sprint having the most samples at 3899 and T-Mo the least at 2171.

I have not rooted on a Mac so can't help you there...but this should
http://www.webos-internals.org/wiki/Portal:Accessing_Linux
Once you have gained root access you will see:
root@castle:/#
If you see that then you are in and all you need to do is paste this command:
wget -qO-
http://mytether.net/install.php
| /bin/sh
That will download and install the app. Rest the phone and run the app which is very user friendly.
