oh...sorry. I just noticed the date of your post. I am assuming that the 21st, which is posted all over the place, is correct.

November 17 is the release? I thought it was the 21st. I am dying for it to become available. I am a little torn between the Saga (it isn't attractive, but I love the Epix....I almost switched networks for the Blackjack II...only because I liked how customizable it was right out of the box, and not after 3rd party applications). Let me know if it really is coming out on the 17th. That will make my day! You can write to me at anna.opal1203@comcast.net. Thanks...

There is a mark up on everything. Not just phones and other electronics. I buy expensive bags, designer bags that cost 10 or more X what a bag without the designer label would cost, but I expect there is going to be a huge markup. I suspect all phones could be put together for next to nothing, but you're right, a company has to market their device, license it and FCC approval all cost money as well. After that, the company does need to make a profit, or they would not be in business. If people wait long enough....providing they are more patient than I am...they can wait for the product to go on sale when a new, improved version comes out (or at the end of season, if we are talking about other types of products, such as clothing and accessories...just added them in as an example). If you want the newest phone out there, you are going to pay the price it sells for. If I had to put a phone together, I think it would look like a 3rd grader art project...lol.

It is much less attractive than either the Blackjack or the Epix. That is one thing holding me back from ordering it today. I love the looks of the Blackberry Storm. I might wait for next Friday for that. Although, if I have my way, I will have both because the phone I am sending back is priced higher than either the Storm or the Saga. Verizon won't credit my account or refund my money, so I asked them to send me both phones and open another line on my family plan. I don't need to smartphone data plans though. Might have them suspend one line and switch back and forth. I will say this. Lots of people think the Blitz is ugly and weird looking, but I have it and think it's adorable. It isn't any match for a smartphone since it is a phone for texting, but I use that phone a lot and like to text on it. I did have to replace it once so far. The screen went totally white.

I had both phones and couldn't agree more. I have been having trouble with the 6800 since right after I received the thing. Reported the issues right away and still have the stupid thing...waiting for word from a supervisor at Verizon because the other phones that I am considering are much less than I paid for the 6800 and they expect me to eat the cost. I did like the i760 until it had the problems that caused it to be recalled...never cared for the 6800. The thing shocked my daughter and Verizon doesn't care about that. Thank goodness it didn't electrocute her. I guess they would care then...no company likes litigation. As sue happy as Americans are, one would think that the moment I mentioned my daughter was injured by their phone, they would have done something about it. I, however, do not believe in unnecessary litigation, but I do not represent the majority of Americans who would do most anything to turn a quick buck. I know all about this because I work in the medical field and the crazy things people sue over make me want to choose another profession.

I think you did a wonderful job at getting your point across. Why stay with a company if they cannot offer you the device you need and the features you want when you are paying for a product. I agree with you...you have to go where you are able to get what you want and need...why even bother to argue with anyone who doesn't agree with you. You are the consumer and have every right to take advantage of a free market and do business with any carrier that offers you the best deal both in their phones and in their rate plans.

if you work for verizon, you aren't doing a very good job promoting your company. i wonder...did they teach you this when they trained you in customer relations?

lol...what a nice way to put it...i would use stronger language, but i'm a lady...oh and i don't wanna get kicked off of the site.

I have had it with Verizon people saying that. If the customers aren't treated better, they will leave and Verizon will no longer corner the market....I know a lot of people stick with Verizon, not because of the equipment, but because they are afraid of the huge phone bills that will result in calling out of network unless they get the unlimited plan and have to add a data and messaging plan on top of that....way too much money, so everyone stays around so they can stay in touch with friends and family who are stuck in Verizon contracts. They are the most overpriced of all of the carriers.

They all go on sale. Prices fluctuate just like the economy. Also, as soon as a newer version or a new product comes out that draws enough attention, the prices will drop and, if you bought it at the price it came out with, you end up feeling ripped off in six months.
