nub question: How is this different than an Ad Hoc connection?

4 Jun 2009

Anybody know if they have changed (corrected) message notifications with this later version of TouchWiz?

I have a Behold--love the phone but absolutely hate the fact that if I have it set for periodic notification of messages, I have to view (actually open) every message before it will stop beeping. All the older, non-TouchWiz Samsung phones I've had would continue to beep/remind me until I hit any button to acknowledge a message (or messages); they would then stop reminding me until a new message was received.

I'm very intersted in the S5600 (Preston), but will be very reluctant to get it (or any TouchWiz phone) if this (which I see as a huge problem) has not been addressed.

With Verizon fannies out there trying to talk all intelligent when vzn does something relatively impressive and like a bunch of raving, ill-behaved, caustic locker room yahoos with jock itch when another company does something good, it's kinda hard for anyone who is not with Verison and whose parents aren't paying for their wireless service to have an unbiased opinion of the company.

I realize not all Verizon customers are this way (including possibly you, Mayday); however, there are enough of these bad eggs out there to make me want to have nothing to do with the company. If at some point they came out with a project that I liked, had use for and which was reasonably priced (initially and for on-going use), I would likely give them a chance, but thus far that has not happened.

I think this is a pretty impressive device and, as far as I know, unique to the market, and slick to boot. I think the review was unbiased and very positive--how can you complain about a rating of 9?

And, the whole basis of unbiased reporting is NOT singing praises but stating the facts and pointing out the positive and negative aspects of a product.

(For the record, Me: originally AT&T -> Sprint -> now T-Mobile for cost/benefit and, primarily, [universal] GSM and their phone offerings)

If you go to the link (http://www.samsungmobileusa.com/Behold.aspx) and click the TouchWiz icon as the article suggests, you will see exactly what is shown in the image.

Seriously, read and follow instructions before you start accusing others. :@

I am currently a (relatively happy) Sprint customer. Sprint DOES offer discounts to renewing customers, assuming you sign a new contract . . . or at least when I signed my contract in April 2007. After 1 year I believe I was eligible for $75 toward a new phone. After 2 years (or even now apparently, a few months early) it will be $150 with a 2-year contract or $50 for a 1-year contract. Just checked today and with a 2-year contract it looks like I would be able to get a new phone for the same price as a new customer (after additional mail-in rebate) . . . pity their phones aren't a little more exciting right now. I reckon I oughta hold out for the Pre--not sure I want that much phone, though.

Was a new contract required with Verizon's New Every Two plan?

Off topic and even the bantering piss contests don't bug me so much, and can to some extent entertain me. It's the senseless cruelty of some people that I just don't understand. It will be very interesting to see if the sign-on requirement helps (a bit of a psychological study in and of itself). I don't see how this could have much if anything to do with preventing negative comments about the site--I don't see much of that as it is.

Also, painfully obvious, but with cookies enabled and checking "Remember me", you don't have to worry about signing on all the time, at least not from a personal computer.

Thanks PhoneArena!

The Sway's design is so nice--slick, clean, slim, practical, and free of gimmicks. I hope this is a sign of phones to come--or is it too much to expect the carriers and manufacturers to grow up or, more, respect the sensibility of their customers (don't try to sell us gadgets, make something useful with classic design). Would love to see this phone at Sprint in black with EVDO and "OneClick".

Love this site (so much better than others I've visited); if you didn't change anything, I would keep coming back. However, since you asked . . .

- I so appreciate the fact that the site designed around information and the ability to research and compare. So many other sites are blog-based and so hard to find information. This site is designed almost like non-biased, online shopping site, only without the option to buy. I hope this does not change.

- Sad to say the pop-ups have indeed become annoying, especially those in the gallery, and especially those that misbehave and wont go away (no where to click to close).

- A filter by CDMA and GSM would be nice on the manufacture list (Phones).

- Maybe I'm missing something, but I can't seem to get any more than about 15 results when I use the Phone Filter from the left navigation pane. Love the pictures and search qualifying information, but it would be nice to see more in the list; I've pretty much given up using it.

- More video reviews by the european guy--what a sweet voice =)

Yay for simple, practical design! Get rid of the GA status labeling and trendy, non-functional-enhancing led lighting and this (imho) would be a perfect phone. Pity it (or something similar) will never see the light of day at Sprint.

Europe gets Ultra and US gets Mattel . . . why is it Sprint markets only business executives and their kids? Doh! That's where the money is =(
