i got my phone almost three months ago and i'm already on my second one. the first time, it bugged out and started going to menus all by itself and it kept calling #963 over and over and it downloaded a bunch of games. the second one is broken now, too, because the screen is completely white. it never goes back. can somebody tell me what color the water damage detector is supposed to be? right now mine's white with tiny, faint purple x's. verizon can't tell me what's wrong with it.

2. THIS PHONE IS AMAZING!

I LOVE THIS PHONE A LOT! I GOT IT FOR CHRISTMAS 07 AND SINCE THEN I HAVE NOT HAD ANY PROBLEMS. UNLIKE ALL THE OTHER SLEEK AND VERY THIN PHONES, THIS ONE DOES NOT BREAK ON YOU. I HAVE DROPPED IT SOOO MANY TIMES, AND IT HASNT SCRATCHED OR FELL TO PIECES. I REALLY LIKE THE FRONT OF THE PHONE BECAUSE IT HAS A MIRROR-LIKE FEATURE, WHERE U CAN SEE YOURSELF WHEN YOU ARE PUTTING ON LIP GLOSS, OR DOING YOUR HAIR, OR SEEING IF THERE IS ANYTHING IN YOUR TEETH!! GREAT SOUND QUALITY, GREAT CAMERA (I WOULD KNOW BECAUSE I USE IT A LOT), A SPEAKERPHONE QUALITY IS AWESOME. U CAN SET WALLPAPERS ON MAIN AND FRONT SCREEN, WHICH IS PRETTY COOL. BATTERY LIFE IS OUTSTANDING! SO MANY GREAT FEATURES, BUT DOESNT HAVE VIDEO RECORDING, WHICH I WOULDNT EVEN USE IF IT DID HAVE IT. OVERALL, YOU SHOULD BUY THIS PHONE BECAUSE IT WORKS REALLY NICE. HEHE :)

REALLY NICE SIZE, SHAPE, QUALITY, AND FEATURES
NONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm kind of disappointed by this phone, you can't record audio on it, so no custom ringtones, and it blocks you from sending ringtones to it unless you get one of the lame Get it Now ringtone applications.

5. Great Phone-Very Nice

My parents got me this phone for Christmas last year, and I LOVED it!! It is great with sound and features! It is surely not one of those very complicated phones with a million features, and then the phone just dies out on you. This phone does have features, but just the right amount. Since the day I got it to this point, I have never had a problem with it. The camera part of this phone isn't like a real digital camera qualtiy, but it is pretty good. I store a lot of pics on my phone, and they all come out great. The sound quality is very superb, especially with the ringtones! This phone is very easy to manage, and I really like the fact that the front of the phone has a mirror-like display, so you can see yourself. I use this phone mostly for calling my friends and family, and it has great reception-if I'm calling someone down my block or another state away. But, even if you like a lot of features, the Get It Now shop allows you to suscribe to a plan to buy games, wallpapers, ringtones, etc. Nice design and easy to store in a pocket, purse, and even your hand. Also, charging is really fast, since I am on the go at times when the battery is running low. This is the first phone I have ever had, and I think it is great. Also, this phone gives you 17 or 18 pre-loaded pics! That's a lot! I like the speaker phone feature because if my whole family wants to talk to the same person, I put the phone on speaker and set it in the middle of us! It is not the best, but average. This phone does not have video, but everything else makes up for it. If you drop it by accident (I did a couple of times), it will not break into a million pieces like other thin and sleek phones would. The buttons are a nice size and easy to push. The LCD screen is great, and clear! This phone is great for it's price! Personally, I would reccoment this to anyone who is getting a phone!!

6. Very nice

I have had this phone for almost a year now. I live in a somewhat remote area, and cannot get service in my house at all. I have never owned a different phone from verizon before, so idk if its the reception quality or just where i live. The phone itself is excellent, and the buttons are soooo easy to press and you will never accidentally press a wrong one. I text a lot, and I really have no problem, and can text very fast. Sound quality is great when you have service, and speaker phone is very loud and clear. The camera isn't that great, but what do u want from a basic phone? The main thing that I like about it is that its so small and fits into your pocket so easily, you will never find a smaller phone that is as easy to use as the VX5400.

7. This Phone is Hell

I hate this phone. My razor died so i had to get a new one. I got suckered into buying the LG VX5400.

Because of the new firmware Verizon is using you cannot send yourself ringtones or pictures.

I will be leaving Verizon. I will also dedicate my life to putting Verizon out of business and bankrupting its entire board of directors. I'm dead serious. The greedy SOB's should burn.

8. Everything's great but the sound

3 Mar 2008 by David

Back in January, my family upgraded from the Samsung a850 to this phone. Just about everything is an improvement: phone conversations are clear and understandable, the design is sleek and shiny, and the battery life is superb.
There are a couple problems, however. Although the sound quality during conversations is great, the volume is very low. Well, at least compared to the a850. My old phone was (and is) loud enough to wake the dead, and more often than not, speakerphone wasn't necessary. This phone sounds as if it's been shoved under several pillows. It's an issue for me, as I like to use my phone as an alarm clock in the morning, and that just doesn't work when it isn't loud enough to wake you. I still use my old phone, if only for those three loud alarms.
My other gripe is that it's hard, when setting a picture as the background, to actually get it to show the whole thing. I wish there was a setting to adjust the picture to fit the width/height of the phone, but no. On the a850, I took pictures of my images on my computer screen, and they showed the whole thing. On this, I still haven't been able to get the whole thing on-screen.

9. Almost Perfect

1 Mar 2008 by Dan

80%8out of 10

I've had fancy phones with tons of features such as an MP3 player and V-Cast Video capabilities but I've never used any of them. This time I decided to try to find a very basic phone with good sound quality and good battery life. I think I have succeeded. The sound quality is excellent and so far, the battery life is the same or better than other phones I have had. It seems to get better signal strength than my last LG, even with an internal antenna.

My only problem with this phone is the ringer and vibrater. Perhaps I was spoiled with my last phone which was LOUD. The vibrater in my last phone was also strong. I could leave the phone on vibrate, set the phone on a table, and if I got a call I would hear the rattling from another room...

However the 5400 with it's ringer set on HIGH is only as loud as my previous phone set on LOW.

Since the phone is so lightweight, it does not vibrate very strongly at all and I have already missed calls. I've had the phone for just a few days. If I am walking, I will not feel the vibrations. I also bought the belt clip and that seems to diminish the vibrations to almost nothing.

The phone is great otherwise, but I hate missing calls, expecially if the phone simply isn't loud enough for me to hear. I may have to regrettably exchange it.

10. Back to Basic Please!

30 Jan 2008 by Albert

78%7.8out of 10

I just took a brand new VX5400 off my Verizon account and put my old VX3400 back on. I love LG phones- this was my 4th, I just wish they (or Verizon) would offer a smaller, lighter basic phone (no camera please- who needs it!). The variance in size between the VX3400 and the larger VX5400 is just enough to make the difference between the feeling of carrying a phone wherever you go and being unaware of it on your person until it rings.

That being said, this is a fine phone with excellent signal quality, battery life, etc. Just wish it was a little smaller / lighter.
