iPhone 2.2 software released

advertisment:
Apple has released the latest update for the iPhone and iPhone 3G.

The 2.2 update brings a decrease in call failures and dropped calls, something a high number of iPhone 3G owners had complained about. Those who enjoy various types of Podcats can now download them over WiFi and respective carrier networks through the help of the iTunes application on the device.

Email has also been tweaked and the issue of downloading them, as set in timed intervals, has been fixed. In addition to this, Apple claims to have achieved a more desirable outlook for wide HTML emails. With the latest update, Safari gets to see some light of day as well. It is more stable, improved in performance and can be seen supporting a new user friendly search option.

The Google Maps application has been fitted with Google Street View, public transit and walking directions, the capability to display an address of a dropped pin and the ability to share a location through email.

Other enhancements include: better sound quality for Visual Voicemail, the option to switch on/off the auto-correct feature and last but not least, pressing the Home button from any Home screen takes you to the first one.

leave it to a vzw fanboy (probably an employee needing phones) to talk about a vzw phone on a thread that is by no means related to vzw... very classy... just like vzw... first they cripple a phone, then they cripple phonearena with horrible posts...

No kidding if we wanted to read advertisments for I crippled phone we would look at the lame VZW phones. I'm not saying this cuz I am a iphone fan I actually have real life experience I was a VZW die hard for 10 years wouldn't have anything to do with it. My crippled phone needed to be fixed and VZW couldn't do it in the shop so I had to wait for a weekend to have a replacement sent. My friend let me use her Iphone for the weekend and I am never going back. That is why I left them they cripple the phone charge for the features the phone was built with and makes the phone a piece of junk, that never meet all my needs unless I pay extra for it. Iphone I pay no extras and get it all that I need and more.

Calling it crippled would of been valid like 3 years ago, they work just the same now, btw iPhone crippled its own Bluetooth, ATT won't replace your iPhone so you have to send it and wait a week to get it (sounds familiar?)

What exactly do they 'cripple' with VZW phones? I have the Dare and Voyager and I don't see any limits. I KNOW it's not a smartphone or whatever but I'm just wondering cuz I've heard this issue b4 with VZW.

Dude, I don't have an iPhone, but you coming in to talk about the Storm on an iPhone post is stupid.

If it is about an iPhone and you don't have one, either say something positive or shut up. You don't have any reason to comment. You are only looking to aggrevate people. Again shut up and keep it moving.

Total crap - Where's the MMS??? Come on Apple, quit f'in around, give us iPhone owners what we want. $500 for your product and you can't even give us the most basic of mobile communication standards.

Make MMS possible (jailbroken phones can do it so yours can too

Also, give us a real bluetooth module. A2DP is not out of line.

Yeah go get the BB Storm WITHOUT WI-FI and depend on your carrier (and its coverage, especially indoor) for all your data, nowadays can a phone without WI-FI be called a smartphone ??

Of course then they will release the WI-FI version just to say they've released an update and make you pay more.
Like the ridiculous series of 8100 - 8110 - 8120 - 8130 ....

The iPhone still delivers the overall best smartphone package and through FREE software updates will maintain that status for soo long

Ah, and that without talking about the App Store ...

i totally agree about how the iphone is the overall best phone. my best part about it is the web browser and touch screen, ther're sweet. and maybe mms is a hardware fix not a software fix and thats why they cant do it, just guessing btw.

neither of you obviously never used a REAL smartphone. Blackberry updates have been free, Wi-Fi is something new to smartphones in the market (so yes it can still be considered a smartphone), the iPhone would of done okay without WiFi if ATT didn't have such a shitty network.

I returned my iPhone, cancelled my MobileMe subscription and went back to my blackberry and actually do my work, kids like you can your gimmick phone.
