W980 and Z770 Sony Ericssons launched

Of course the music fans will not be disappointed with the announcement of W980 – the first high-end clamshell of the company. Following the recent trend of including large amount of built-in memory and removing the card slot, W980 comes with 8GB of it, allowing the user to store more than 8,000 songs. For those listening to radio on their cellphone, the W980 is one of the first device we know of that does not require the user to have the hands-free plug-in so that function can operate.

The W980 Walkman phone has a built-in FM transmitter, which allows you to send whatever’s playing on your phone to other devices with a built-in FM radio receiver. Other features include 3.2 mega pixel camera, quad-band GSM with only 2100 (EU) UMTS.

The W980 will be available in select markets in Q3 2008.

The latest addition to the Z series is the Z770 clamshell. Its main idea is not to be trend setting, but to make it straightforward to surf the web or receive the latest news. Because of this, the features are nothing special and include just what you expect from a mid-level device – 2.0 mega pixel camera, 2.2 inch display, tri-band GSM (900/1800/1900) and single band UMTS.
The Z770 is expected Q2 2008 in selected markets.
