Did anyone notice that Verizon is showing the dimensions as 4.1"x2.2"x.5", and phonearena.com is showing the dimensions as 4.4" x 2.5" x 0.5"? That's a big difference! Anyone know what the real dimensions are?
The Reason is that Apple is going to sell the iPhone for $99 at the start of the holiday shopping season. Verizon/RIMS don't want to fall behind in the race for selling phones this winter.
did not even bother to read if this was mentioned (apparently i have to watch what i saw on here casue everyone will try to argue with any)......
i use to work for Verizon and i saw a pattern in how their phones were discounted through the rebates. For the most part they are glad to take off $50, but it is really hard to tell how much profit they might be willing to loose. I mean any PDA or Blackberry that they have sold before has been over$250 easily and now requiring $30 dollar data plans (just for data nothing more) its kind of crazy to even think itll go as low as $99, but if it does it will probably be just for the Holiday season i cant imagine them not being their usuakl greedy selfs haha...gota love the network though

You may have worked for VZW prior to REQUIRED data plans for blackberries. Since then VZW has known that they will get a minimum of $30/month for 2 years for each blackberry sold, for a total revenue of $720. Blackberries are now priced between 79.99 and 149.99 after rebate.

I think you are all acting like a bunch of catty girls. Who cares how they spell it isn't a spelling contest maybe she is breastfeeding her kid or something. Geez!!! get a grip!! Although there is a little button you can click that says Check Spelling LMBO!!!! ♥
I would say that the Storm being sold at $99 with 2-yr agreement makes sense. You have to remember that Verizon now makes you pick a Data Plan which starts at $29.99 or Unlimited for $44.99. Most people will go with the $44.99 plan so besides your phone minutes you are paying an extra $45 which is where Verizon makes their money. Not on the phone.

The $29.99 is actually unlimited. It does not support a blackberry exchange server -- that's the 44.99 plan. So corporate users typically will have to spend more, but your average joe with a pop3 account will pay $30.
so having worked for vzw for 7 months, and now going throug att's training (i'm currently in a training class... don't tell!!) i've learned that, in terms of coverage, they're mostly the same. the condition is WHERE. there are areas in which I'll be standing still with my vzw and att phone, one in each hand, make a call and one of the phones can't call out. then i'll move 50 feet, and the service will flip. Just because My house gets EV-DO w/ verizon and my att phone only gets EDGE doesn't mean that I'll get ev-do reception in downtown Cincy inside my store (which I don't). From the tests I've done, (VZW: BB Curve 4.5 OS/ATT: Apple iPhone 2.1 OS) the download speeds are basically the same.
Anyone know what the typical penalty is for 1yr only contract? Is it still around $50?
I heard the turn by turn is going to be locked to the dang vzw nav, but anyone have a feeling if you could still use Google Maps, GeoTag Photos etc, or will I have to use a "get screwed now" vzw program. No offence but as a consumer I am sick of neutered features and I am out of contract. I really would prefer a vzw Android phone instead, although I am sure they will neuter that too, in which case I just need to get away from vzw.
Wi-fi insecure. Wow. Please put the cue cards down. (shakes head & rolls eyes)
So much crap - It is a $400 phone. You are accepting a ($400 - "price") loan from Verizon for 24 months at equivalent rates that are hidden from you. Verizon does not print money in a special room; you pay for it ALL. Wouldn't it be nice to arrange your own financing (if needed) and be free to do whatever you want with your new phone - with any carrier. Oops - too radical. Must stop.
