Verizon selects LTE technology for 4G

Despite that Verizon has just recently finished upgrading their 3G EVDO Rev 0 data network to the slightly faster EVDO Rev A, they have also just announced plans on their upcoming 4G network. Verizon, which is partly owned by Vodafone, has made it clear that they both will be using LTE (Long Term Evolution) for the next-generation networks.
Trials are expected to begin in 2008, but it is unclear as to how long it will take before LTE is available nationally. Not to mention that current devices will not be able to access the faster next-gen network. We would expect that future devices from Verizon would be compatible with CDMA2000, EVDO, and LTE; for them to offer full data compatibility across the US' network.
