Verizon has put together a chart that compares some of the features and specs of the upcoming BlackBerry Storm2 with those belonging to three other competitor smartphones. Crackberry was able to get a copy of this chart. The opposing line-up features the BlackBerry Bold, Apple iPhone 3G and the Palm Pre. The Storm2 held up very well in the categories selected for comparison. For example, the iPhone is known not to have a microSD slot. Each of the challengers had one feature missing that was included on the 9550. For the Bold, it was OTA music downloads, the aforementioned removable memory on the iPhone 3G and with the Pre, it was the lack of Global Capability. Could you come up with a better group of  features to use for a comparison?

That's because the 3GS is basically a 3G with the exception of a VERY few markets. Not to mention the fact that engadget did a test comparing real-world speeds of the 3G and 3GS in chicago and found that the difference was negligible. Thanks for playing though.

The differences is hardware. The 3GS can handle more then the 3G. If your doing "real world" phone and connection performance the 3G and the 3GS is the same. If your looking at how much faster it can process games and handle applications the 3GS is far better....


Oh and to reiterate... the 3G can do OTA Music downloads and does have aGPS.... So no matter how much you moron fanboy hate it... the VzW comparison is wrong... As for removable memory... Almost no apps can be run on your removable card... So that means only pics, videos, and music.... All the apps are going to be loaded on to what... 200mb application memory which your blackberry uses for resources...... How funny... you have to constantly delete your apps because if you fill up the Application memory your Blackberry will slow to a crawl...




Ignoring the fact is like like saying a PC is a PC and all PCs are the same. Better hardware means better performance for Applications...



I love how the fanboys arguments are always devoid of facts...

the 3G can do OTA Music downloads..... and it does have aGPS.... so it has Standalone and Assisted GPS.

yeah well where i live att sucks. dropped calls. I will take a Verizon phone first no matter what but will consider sprint. If Verizon had an apple i might think about it. But as fare as i am concerned except for the amazing touch screen the apple is a smartphone for dummy's. We have 4g out here already any way. well clearwire and sprint but Verizon is coming soon. But who really cares. as long as i can get streaming video what els matters. i think the 4g and such is just going to matter with using your phone as a router and apples iphone cant do that yet. Or actually it can att cant. I truly believe with how customizable windows mobile phones and even android that for me thats were i am staying. Windows mobile for now but well i am waiting for windows mobile 7 first. I would be drooling over trhe new htc hd 2 but with only being able to have a 8gb card installed and almost no onboard memmory i think i will pass. I would really want a iphone with windows mobile or android but i guess i will get an omnia 2 and customize the sh+t out of it.

Who cares about a micro-sd slot. If Verizon wasn't so cheap they would include more internal memory and removal storage wouldn't be needed. How much memory comes with the storm anyway? Somebody please inform me. I know my iPhone Has 32G! I know so many ppl who bought the first storm and hate it and are ready to jump ship on Verizon for the iPhone. The storm just sucks!! I am looking forward to the android phones for Verizon. Just not holding my breath for the release date

The Storm 2 should have like 256mb of application memory and i think 2 gigs of storage. So even with a removable card you will have 18gigs for music, video, and pics. Now with the Blackberry Apps cannot run from your card... they must be downloaded onto the Application memory which for the Storm is a huge drawback. All Blackberries utilize the app memory for system resources. This means the more applications you place unto your App Memory the slower your blackberry will become.

Basically even with 256mbs you will only really have 100mbs depending on how much background process you do. So how does removable memory really help?

Well one thing you should know is Verizon Wireless doesn't make the Blackberry Storm 2, thats done by RIM. Just like AT&T doesn't make the IPhone, the Bold or any of the phones they offer.

There is a program on the blackberry app world called Aerize Card Loader that let's you save program to sd cards. I like my storm...but if verizon had an I Phone I'd probably have that.

IMO, this is just stupid, why make a comparison chart with one phone that is in no way competition to the Storm2 [that would be the dated Bold], a stictly multimedia centric phone [the iPhone] and a phone that could very well smash it out of the water if it had global roaming [the Pre]. Verizon is getting 2 or 3 Android phones that, with some no-how, is capable of destroying the competition, why focus on the Storm 2; it's a waste of money and time...

Why pick a Blackberry to stand up against these competitors when there are a few "yet to be released" Verizon phones that would do a better job for comparison? That's right, this is VeRIMzon. Duuuuuh. My bad.

LOL... if it wasn't true I wouldn't laugh so hard. VZW provides nearly 25% of all of RIM's service worldwide.... So a martet of nearly 90 mil subs provides 25% of a world population of what now... 3 billion+ ... Boring Blackberries... NEXT!

It's stupid to compare phones with completely different OS. Let's be honest WebOS, Android and iPhone OS are better than the Blackberry OS. What blackberry does it does it well though. But Blackberrys need some updating IMO.

I don't think it is stupid at all... Verizon isn't going to put their Storm 2 against their other Blackberries in a chart to show that it smashes the other Blackberry they offer... that wouldn't make any sense. A comparison chart is great to have, but looking at this chart, it does not say to me, "The Blackberry Storm 2 Destroys all these other phones!!!" This comparison chart sucks, and who ever wasted their time with it should be fired... LOL!

I agree with you that Blackberry need to do a bit of updating for their OS, but they are a great product. Just get a better Comparison Chart.

I agree that the chart is worthless. I also agree that the blackberry OS is as outdated as the WinMo OS. Since I'm a VZW user and they don't have the iPhone, talking about it doesn't help me at all (in fact it just makes me bitter than we don't have it.) So instead, the crux for me is going to come out which OS is better: Android or WebOS? And by better I mean which one will mimic the iPhone's extremely responsive OS as well as pump out the most quality apps. Time will tell...
