Verizon climbs the money tree

In a press release today, Verizon Wireless published its economic results for 2008 and it seems that the current economic environment doesn’t have a bad influence on the Big Red at all. The company has reported its income results for Q4 2008, as well as for the whole year, demonstrating a 3.4% growth for Q4 2008, increasing to $24.6 billion, compared to $23.8 billion for the fourth quarter of 2007. Verizon’s annual operating revenues for 2008 count $97.4 billion, which is an increase of 4.2%, compared to 2007.

It has become obvious that the rest of the carriers are up for a challenge, but will the Big Red be that resourceful throughout 2009 as well? It remains to be seen.

VZW had a net addition of 1.4 million customers in Q4 2008, the most of any carrier however the bad news is that it's a decent drop from Q4 2007 when VZW had ned adds of 2.0 million customers. Still, at least there aren't any forcasted layoffs for VZW anywhere in the near future.

Look for Circuit City Employees to be soaked up by retail stores and mall kiosks..... Lay offs for the under performing?????

I don't follow. If you are referring to the last sentence if the article, then I guess you don't know what suspense is. I too am anxious to find what how Verizon is going to do throughout 2009. I guess you're not.

VZW isn't failing financially like Sprint. So there's hope that not all companies will suffer through these tough times. And at the end, the writer says:

I think we're mainly focused on this part here - "It remains to be seen."

Yeah, that's got a pretty negative sound to it. Either A: He doesn't like that VZW isn't failing like Sprint, or B: He's trying to sound suspenseful. And if you're trying to sound suspenseful with that in the current time, you're a retard. Plain and simple. It's not funny, it's not clever, it's dumb. It's like you want people to lose their jobs or you think if people lose their jobs it'll be funny or it'll help you as a writer. Think before you write next time, k?

as a vzw employee i have realized that we are not in hard times with this company. Our business has not deminished one bit. we are actually seeing more customers in the stores then we have before. Some of this is due to other companies not allowing for as much overtime as well as the unemployment rate. We see the same amount of people if not more in the stores. The only difference is when the customers come to the stores. we are busier on days where we just to have few customers but weekends remain the same as always. Im just happy to work for a company during these hard times that offer such great job security.
