Verizon blocks Tour pre-orders for those upgrading their handset

While Verizon has started taking pre-orders for the BlackBerry Tour 9630 as we reported, Big Red is not allowing pre-orders from those upgrading their current Verizon handset. If you attempt to push through your order for the widely anticipated device using your upgrade privileges, you will get on the screen a message that says (in stop sign red) "Pre-orders not available for upgrade orders at this time."

If you were planning on trading in your Verizon handset for the Tour, you can try to find a telesales rep that is unaware of the carrier's plans, hope that Verizon reverses this policy after hearing complaints, or wait until the July 12th launch date to pick up the phone.

Point is VZW screws everyone every chance they get. They only care about new customers that way it can be reflected in their #s so their stock goes up and the upper eschelon of VZW makes more money that they dont need. you can afford VZW now but wait till they hike rates cuz its coming. Cell phone carriers are the new credit card companies. Have your vaseline ready.

Sounds to me like a former employee that couldn't cut it as an RSR.

Are you bitter at Verizon or all the Cell Companies over this alleged rate hike?

I know right, its almost like they are a business whos goal is to make money! What did they tell you you werent eligible for an upgrade or something? Please do explain the rate hikes, competition keeps the prices in check relative to each other so unless you mean the whole industry plans to charge more all at the same time you are incorrect.

sound like an employee that does whatever he is told. Drink your verizon Kool aid. Fact is Verizon doesnt take care of existing customers. How many times has NE2 been lowered? Every new price plan that comes out enables them to bill you for things you dont use. How many customers get hit with a data charge and not realize it? I understand they are in the business to make money. But there is good business and bad business. And its not just Verizon. Its all corporations. Point is you dont matter so live it up while things are good but the minute you have a problem dont expect any help from them. UNless you agree to a higher price plan and new 2 yr contract :)

someone has to pay for 4g deployment. And is wireless inflation protected? when your dollar is worth 10 cents how much is your unlimited plan is going to cost. AH ignorance is bliss. I think the bread company is in the business to make money so when you pay 30 dollars for a loaf of bread apply the same principal.

I'll probably get one, but I'm not that eager to spend the cash for one yet. I can wait until after the 12th.

It's a system issue. It was meant to work for all orders. Scheduled to be fixed "as early as" today but by the end of the week. For now the disclaimer is there just because it wasn't working.

It's funny how people are so quick to jump to conclusions that it's a conspiracy.

This makes sense, it doesn't seem to be in Verizons best interest to limit pre-orders to new customers / lines. As long as they lock you into a contract they're doing good.

Actually, that is an error which should be fixed sometime in the future. The disclaimers have covered the issue up, for general information for everyone that is griping about it.
