Verizon and Sprint launch the BlackBerry Tour 9630

advertisment:
The calendar reads July 12th and for many, the red circle around the date means it's time for the launch of the BlackBerry Tour 9630. Both Verizon and Sprint are releasing the latest RIM smartphone for a price of $199.99 after rebates and a 2 year contract. What a journey it has been for the Tour 9630. Originally born as the Niagara 9630, early reports had the handset coming to Verizon and Sprint, and finally in April, we reported on the new name of the phone, now called the Tour.

Have you already been to the store to pick up the device? Let us know what you think of the new 9630 and in what ways is it better or worse than your previous phone.

Been playing with this phone since we got them in stock on Friday. It's honestly the fastest blackberry that I've had the pleasure to mess around with. Loading time on apps has been cut down, browsing the Internet is AMAZING now. The new HTML browser loads websites up just as if you were sitting down in front of a desktop! Zooming in and out is much smoother too. The screen seems brighter too. The camera takes nice, chrisp pictures and zooming on that is much more fluid than the Curve. The only draw back is the trackball. Maybe it's our demo units, but the ones I've played with kinda stick sometimes.....overall, the BB Tour is a great step forward for RIM. If you have any of the older units and are looking for an upgrade, go with this one. (completely forget about the BB Storm)

This is an amazing phone, even better then the TMobile Curve 8900 so far. Minus the WiFi of course.

Well I've had the phone for almost 24 hours now and my opinion hasn't changed. The phone is very quick, responsive, and works as expected. I upgraded from the Storm which I found to lag between screens, locked up, etc... As I play with more features like the camera I'll try to post an update.

Still wish the phone has WiFi Calling, but the signal has been better then my Storm was.
