VZW is expected to launch the Blitz next Friday. Despite the fact that it will be offered as a prepaid device, it is an interesting phone with slider form-factor and a full QWERTY …
my first look at it, i thought it was a phone for like 8 year olds. but then i looked into it, and it actually looks like a pretty nice phone. i want a QWERTY keyboard, and i've been between the motorola q9m and this. bit i've heard that the q crashes a lot. so this is toward the top of my list.
Yes you can have it as your new phone on your existing plan iwhtout an extension, as long as it has no contracts attached to it yet. It's not something that Verizon really wanys people to know because it's so much cheaper to go out and get a pre paid phone than to buy one through them, but they can't say no if it's a Verizon phone. I've done it three times before without problem.
It is a post pay and prepaid device. I guess they changed their minds.
I just went to the verizon kiosk after I saw this was available online. I wanted to get a feel for it because I wanted it as soon as I saw it but was turned away by the "prepaid only" part. I found at that isn't only prepaid so that was a huge spirit lifter. Also the fact it's 70 bucks when I upgrade.
After trying the phone out and sending some texts I fell in love. It is a tad thicker than the Curve, a lot lot shorter and just a tad wider. SO essentially it's a Curve but a slight difference. The slide feels so nice. The outside buttons are very much like Verizon's other phones that aren't smart phones. By that I mean it doesn't have like a mail button or a web button or a browser button unless you set up the hot keys to do that.
It's got dedicated music and camera buttons on the right side. The QWERTY board is very nice. The keys are flat but slightly raised. More sensitive and easier to press than I would have guessed. The numbers are very easily distinguishable and a dedicated blue dot button just to the left of the numbers so putting in numbers while texting is very quick and easy.
The menus are stereotypical verizon menus with the standard lists and menus but it has a rather interesting orange faced UI mode.
Basically this is the phone I have been waiting for.
It is a texting machine with a natural qwerty board that has the space bar in the center (not the voyager env etc), it doesn't have a lame windows based or palm based operating system that doesn't feel like a phone anymore, it is smaller and a little more manageable than most smart phones and less bulky I think, especially when closed.
I love it so far and bought it online from the apple store in the mall so I could get the rebate immediately and not have to wait 4 weeks for it.
i have this phone & it's ok but it glitches. whenever i slide my phone closed too fast, it restarts. it's super annoying! other times the screen will just freeze for like 5 minutes & you can't turn it off or make it do ANYTHING.
most of these comments are old. This phone has gotten great reviews! Ive been looking it up online and reading user's reviews and 98% of them say that the phone is great. The other 2% said they got lemons . . .
