VZW announces LG Dare, Decoy and Chocolate 3!

advertisment:
Finally, months after the first information leaked, Verizon Wireless officially announced the three new LG phones it will carry: Dare, Decoy and Chocolate 3.

LG Dare is a slim candybar with a large touchscreen on the front and only three keys, reminding of the PRADA and the Vu (AT&T). It will be positioned as multimedia-friendly touch phone with 3.2-megapixel camera and image-editing software.

LG Decoy is a slider and the world’s first handset with an integrated Bluetooth headset. It slips into the back for charging its battery and transporting both devices together.

LG Chocolate 3 is … a clamshell! Although it has the same model name, it is not slider as the first two generations (VX8500 and 8550). It is still a music-centric device with large control wheel on the front, when closed. It has 1GB of memory and microSD slot for expanding it, stereo speakers and support for Stereo Bluetooth. It also features FM transmitter for transferring the music to nearby radio and a 2-megapixel camera.

At the moment, the details are scarce but Verizon said it will provide more in the upcoming weeks. LG Decoy will launch first, on 16th this month (as expected) and the other two will be available for purchase next month.

The Chocolate is now a Flip phone? WTF? I thought the fact that it was a Slider was part of it's appeal....

Actually there aren't any. If you're talking about the 8600, that was never referred to as the chocolate by LG. It might have been called that by employees and customers, but definitely not by LG.

but then again, the 8700 was refered to the shine by lg but verizon refused to use the shine name. the same could be for the chocolate flip. in canada, telus does refer to the 8700 as the shine.

Looks like the VX8600 and the Chocolate 2 had sex and the outcome is the is Chocolate 3. Good Improvments on the C3 though. 1gig internal, FM transmitter, and 2.0MP Camera now.

We have the Decoy at the store. It looks way Shiny... (Think Chrome) and the blue on the back is not as bad as people think. It's a pretty dark blue..

The dare is going to be a big seller. The dare will be great for all those people that leave because of the new Iphone, and then come back to VZW because they thought the grass was greener on the other side... and then realized it's brown and hasn't been watered in years. lol. It happened last year, and it will happen again.

finally verizon gets the fact that the only reason the iphone has the one up is because of the interface. the layout menu of the dare looks sick and frankly nicer than the iphone. now if the touch screen can just be as responsive as the xv6900, they'll be in business. the touch screen for the voyager is great for regular navigation but terrible for the web browser. the glyde is perfect for web browsing but terrible for navigation. hopefully the dare gets it right. i've been telling everyone this is the phone to look out for, hopefully i'm right. thank god i didn't use my upgrade.

I hope they make the Chocolate 3 a slider as well. That was the only reason I would get the Chocolate. It made it unique.

I forgot to mention this but (For those who don't know):

Dare:

-Will have handwriting recognition
-Drag and drop contact and photo interface
-EVDO Rev A High Speed Data
-The on Screen Editing will also have doodle capabilities on screen.
-DVD Quality Video Playback
-Be able to record in VGA (640x480)

Chocolate 3:

-Will also come in Light Blue (Not just black)
-Has Rhapsody Music service available on it for music on the demand from anywhere 3g available.
-Will have 24hrs of Music Playback time

Just thought you guys should know if you didn't. I didn't see it mentioned anywhere on here.... So I wanted to give you phone lovers the 411.

Is the 24hours of music playback time while the phone is not on Music Only?

I get about 7-10 hours of music while in music only and even less when its not on music only. An increase in teh battery life would be awesome.

I'm also excited that I don't have to worry about scratches as much now that the screen will be protected. Clam shell doesn't look as awesome or feel as cool, but it is far more functional.

Wi-Fi is not in the Dare, but with EVDO REV A (if I'm not mistaken) should be way faster than 3G.....
as for you're litle 8GB hard drive that doesnt come out....take a look at one of your finger nails because thats the size of the REMOVABLE MICRO SDHC, i can buy as many of these as i want and just keep adding away at the Gigs

if you've ever read reviews on this site you'd know better, Verizon is consistently the whipping boy on here and most other sites, mainly by people that have no lives and hate Veriizon for no reason other than wi-fi and the fact that it's lonely in their moms basement

It should be, being that vzw is the best when it comes to network and just overall phone quality! these phones are killing everything else out there! and the EVDO networks is definitly faster than that crapy b.s network that att trys to pass off

supposedly sandisk is releasing a 12gb micro SDHC this summer and a 16gb version later in the year. Considering how fast the prices fell on the 8gb cards (can find one for ~$40) this really make the removable storage route looks great... unless apple manages to make an 80gb iphone... 'til then
