LG Dare Launch problem? It looks like some programmer messed up pretty bad in regards to online sales of the LG Dare. I live in California, and noticed that the LG dare was available here on June 25th at 9pm (as it was 12am, July 26th, east coast time). I was able to add it to my cart, and up until the final "Summit your order" everything was going great. I had all my discounts (Online purchase discount, and my "new in two" discount) so that the phone price was going to be $99 for me. Just below that, I noticed the total was $8349.00!!! It turns out that the sales tax they were charging me was $8250.00!!! At the bottom of my order was this notice: "**Some states require us to compute sales tax on the full retail price or inventory cost of the equipment you purchase. Your sales tax was based on $99,999.99." Whawhawhaaat?!?! I'm pretty positive that some $99,999,99 was put in by some programmer who was testing the site, pre-launch. Now, when it went "live" and became available, they forgot to change it to the true retail value of the phone. I can't believe that they did this, and furthermore that nobody else caught this before going live. This could be a huge PR problem, as if I had casually pressed "Submit" without seeing this error, I'd have overdrawn the account I was using to pay, and have to deal with the headache of fixing things from my end. I called Verizon before they closed at 11pm PST, twice, and told them about the problem. Their reply was to try again tomorrow. Really? You would think for such an important product (competing with the iphone 2) that Verizon would have really taken the time to dot their "i"s and cross their "t"s. How FRUSTRATING! P.S., I've since removed it from my cart, and tried again (after midnight here in California) and the problem still exists. So, it is available on the site, but if your state requires the collection of sales tax, look out for a possible sales tax charge based on the $99,999.99 price. Ouch! Also frustrating is that if I lived in Oregon, where there are no sales taxes, my order would be in. Uggggg! I hope they fix this ASAP!!

I just tried to order under upgrade on verizon wireless and the Dare does not show up in the list. I called Verizon and they stated that others are having the same issue and they will get back with me. Did you do anything special to pull this phone up?

Thanks!

Just tried upgrading to the LG Dare through my New-Every-2; apparently Customer Service is saying my America's Choice Plan is too old and that I have to switch to one of their new and improved Nationwide plans.... which I'm not going to do.

That's what happened to me too and the guy I contacted at Verizon customer service was really nice and placed the order for me to where it would process in the morning and the phone amount of $99 would be charged to my next bill. Everything went smooth over the phone so I don't know why your people you called didn't do that either. =] Good Luck!

Why would you not switch? It's the same plan $39.99 for 450 mins unl n&w unl v2v ... the only thing that changed was instead of using airtime for the internet it now charges MB usage.

EVERYONE!!!

I returned my Voyager today for the Dare and it was $250.00 with Tax so it was about 267.00 total with a $50.00 mail in rebate.
Now... MAKE SURE YOU MAIL YOUR REBATE ASAP to be able to get the money!!! If you dont within the first I think 15 days the rebate automatically voids!

I will get the Dare Mailed to my house by Monday so I will write a review at that time!

Well considering I had to replace my chocolate phone 2 times, im iffy on getting another LG phone. Going in tomorrow morning to check out the dare since ive had no phone for about a week now and refused to send it out. Ill let you know how it is and if I buy it. [only reason I would buy it is b/c I can upgrade so 200$ isnt so bad] wish me luck. lol

These comments are not helpful ... most of you appear to be here to argue with one another. There is a lot of "Subjective Opinions" about quality of Networks or the quality of a USC education ... WTF does that have to do with the quality of the Dare? ... That's what I came here to read.

Most of these comments here are a waste of time!!!
