I have had the Dare every since the first day it was sold. I got it so fast that the rep didn't even know that they were being sold yet. The phone is great people love it. If I were you I would go ahead and get the dare. Shoot you will always have an annual upgrade or a NE2 with a credit, push come to shove add a line and get it anytime. I had the voyager and it was great as well I had it for abour 5 or 6 months then upgraded and got the dare. People fell to realize that you can CALIBRATE the touch if you are having too push the screen several times to do something. I guarantee you someone is complaining about the IPHONE right now somewhere as well. Everything won't be absolutely perfect about any phone. But the Dare is slick I love the panaramic camera. Taking three pictures and making it into one, and the capability to even write out a quick message with your finger, or draw a pic and send it. I want the Storm as well but It will still be there in a year or whenever its not going anywhere when it gets there. Whats going to happen when the IPHONE says &$%@ it and comes to VERIZON everyone is going to go crazy then. I bet it going to happen one day. Using the qwerty keybord or using the word format to text both are VERY EASY AND CONVENIENT, only ones that complain are people with big ass fingers or are hard of learning. SO go ahead and get the Dare and then get the storm later, hey if you really want the storm when it comes out then sell the Dare on ebay then use the money to get a storm. And don't forget the you have to get the data package with the blackberry $29.99 minimum, with the Dare you don't have to get anything. JUST SOMETHING TO HELP YOU DECIDE.

honest opinion. wait for the bb then decide. unless you dont want to spend 30 dollars a month for the net

2 totally different classes of devices. the storm is going to be more a month to operate. mandatory $30 on any blackberry per month on top of minutes for internet and email. The same thing on the dare is 15 a month. (the difference being that a fully functional blackberry never truely stops using data so it uses 100x more data than a regular phone) the dare has rhapsody. the storm has more email and calender functionality. its a business phone. its a blackberry. the dare is an end user (dumbphone) with more media stuff for it. which side do you need more?

in the end, which way you lean is up to you. if you are torn, wait till its out and play with both.

dont forget blackberries and dumb phones have a different interface, so it depends which one u like better. if you like to text always go for the physical qwerty keyboard i would say. i love my voyager and i need a keyboard, no matter how good the touchscreen, i just cant seem to text as fast, so thats why i need the keyboard. this should def be a good phone though

umm.. first sprint would have to be #2 before they could be #1. they have a while to go before they even catch up to ATT. (and at their rate, they will see #5 long before they see #2)

In the interest of not becoming one of you I will keep this short and sweet. You, yes all of you, are morons. It's a website to get some info. on stupid cell phones, so in the grand scheme.....who cares. Seriously read this thread top to bottom and tell me you don't feel just a little embarrassed about the stuff you posted, because really it's just cell phones. None of you are helping to cure cancer, or doing anything remotely important. I cannot for the life of me believe the stuff you morons write. I really truly weep for the future of America we are becoming a nation of very angry very stupid people. I'm going to read a book, enjoy morons.

That is all fine. I just hope you aren't responsible for teaching our future grammar. If you wouldn't have taken such an "offensive" approach, I wouldn't feel the need to correct you.

"In the interest of not becoming one of you, I will keep this short and sweet" Do you see that "comma" in there? Evidently, you didn't the first time.

"it's just cell phones" Incorrect subject-object agreement. "It" is singular, "cell phones" ...plural

"I really truly weep for the future of America we are becoming a nation of very angry very stupid people. I'm going to read a book, enjoy morons."

"I really truly weep" "Really" is an ambiguous word. "I truly weep" has the same meaning. I am thinking there should be a "period" after "America". "Very angry, very stupid people"... Again, commas are nice.

Obviously you care since you were on this site and read through every post. And about us being a nation of "very angry very stupid people"...thanks for being one of them. You are only adding to the group.

What a dumb rant. Why go to a phone web site and complain that people are talking about phones? If you want to talk about the cure for cancer, they have forums for that. If you want to talk about dumb Americans, they have a forum for that too. If you cannot find these forums, why try your hand at building one.... then some idiot will go to your site and talk about how dumb the poster's are because in the grand scheme... it doesn't matter. Welcome to the Internet.

You do not need wi-fi for the storm, a data plan is required for blackberry devices.

Good call #83. I love it when customers ask me if our phones have WiFi, and if they are 3g? First off, we dont need Wifi. Our Network coverage is sufficiant and fast enough to provide you with internet in more places than a barnes and noble. Second, when did 3g become this cute term that everyone and there 3 year old know? Oh! Thats right, At&t launches thier 3g Service about 3 years after Verizon and Sprint, and they felt the need to tell people about it.

correct. wifi is a catch up device that inferior networks use to supplement their tiny 3g data services.

CDMA networks dont NEED WiFi because our networks (read VERIZON) already cover over 80% of the US population. go find a coverage map of every carrier and you will see just how embarrising it is.

I want to know as a VZW Customer.. Can I get a blackberry w/o adding a data plan ( I would like the ability to edit docs/emails etc on the go but dont need to send/receive email and I like blackberry over most WM devices. I have heard varying opinions from sales reps depending on who I ask.

When you activate a blackberry their billing system auto adds the $44.99 feature which provisions Blackberry Enterprise Server and Blackberry Internet services... you can chose the $29.99 instead which doesnt include these features and still gives you access to unlimited e-mail and Internet access........ The reps can block the data on the phone and not add a packge but they are not supposed to.

(I heard its b'cause of an agreement RIM has w/Verizon Wireless..... so all you haters dont blame Big Red)

You cannot block data on a blackberry, it either requires the 44.99 data plan which incudes access to corporate email or the 29.99 which is internet and personal email in addition to your regular monthly plan. You have to choose one option. You can only block data and choose not to have a data plan on pda/smartphone.

The dude is right.
Data can be blocked on a BB. I'm an employee and have done it before.

If you are an employee then you would know you cannot block data on a BB. Data is required because BB needs to send the appropriate service books to the phone upon activation. Without the service books, which are basically a set of rules for your BB device, the phone will not function properly.

OK the only "BOOK" you need to read is the DICTIONARY u IDIOT. You just completely contradicted yourself. THE POINT was wether it can be blocked or not. IF you block the DATA its OBVIOUS that "some" data features wont work. YOU CAN still block data and use voice w/o problems.

now shut up and go back to your comic book.

If you are an employee, can I have your ID# so that when people call me and say "That guy said I could block the data feature!" I can say "That guy is correct technically, but is also going directly against the policies and procedures of VZW. Now let me activate the data feature on your new Blackberry and then I'll be able to send an email to his/her supervisor for a coaching opportunity." :)

Can Reps add the Data Block? I see that this has been restricted. Example: Cst wants to Data Block a VCast phone, you added the feature, go to update and bang the FOM adds $15 VCast instead. Only Tech Support can add Data Block on any phone type. It may vary though with systems.

you are an idiot.
any rep in any retail store can block any feature of a REGULAR phone. blackberrys CAN NOT be blocked(data wise) from a retail store. blackberries never stop really using data when they are configured properly. Do you have any understanding of how high your bill would be if you ran it on a pay as you go?
all reps and techs use the same computers and have the same access as far as blocking features go. now you can block texting and a few other things on a BB, but data is UNBLOCKABLE on a BB.

text messaging, vcast, mobile web- these can all be blocked (or you can pay $5 for usage controls)
but if you own a blackberry- it MUST HAVE either email and web for $29, BES support email and web for 44.99, (or rarely) 10mb bes support for 24.99. back in the days of the 8703e and earlier- it was rare, but possible, for a BB to have no data. but no longer. and besides, anyone who has a blackberry with no data is a moron- plain and simple.

When getting any Blackberry/PDA/Smartphone you NEED to add a data plan... whether it's 10MB, 25MB, unlimited MB, or pay per KB... there are no block codes for these types of devices. The only block codes are for phones, which are mobile web block, app block, vcast block, etc.

the phone won'tactivate if you try to block data..won't even let you sell it out.. i tried, just for the sake of weighing in on this arguement. Keeps giving you error notifications
