The fall CITA 2009 convention is well underway, and the big news came today from Samsung as they showcased their upcoming Omnia II i920 smartphone, which will be available through Verizon Wireless (though no price or date was announced). The Omnia II features a large 3.7" 480x800 WVGA resolution AMOLED display and comes with the new TouchWiz 2.0 interface, 5MP camera with 720x480 resolution video recording, and an advanced multimedia player for music and a wide variety of video formats. Very Nice Looking Phone! I'm Impressed to say the least... except for the fact that it WON'T be shipped with WinMo 6.5. That's Lame.

No way... VZW is taking longer to release another phone, never! This phone should have been released 3 months ago and the 6.5 update should have been made for release for sometime in november. I was going to get this phone, if it had come out 2 months ago, but now I am just going to pass and wait for a MW 7 upgradeable phone like the Leo or whatever... I have a hacked version of 6.5 on my Vogue/6900 and that will just have to do. Way to go VZW. If you want my business you need to release phones on time in a practical manner, not when the next generation phone is released on another carrier. Otherwise, I will just wait and not upgrade.

Immature whiniing little wankers! The phone was first announced less than four months ago by sammy, and the gsm version was the initial model. They had to get a cdma model, deliver initial phones to vzw, get things tested and modded for vzw, get quantities built and delivered...wtf do you children want? "I saw it on the web and I demand they get it to me NOW, or else I'm going to flood bulletin boards on uninformed rumor mill phone blogs and claim I'll go to some other sucky carrier!" Grow up. If it comes out in November it's still fater than vzw has gotten phones out in the past. Next you'll start the nonsensical complaints about alleged crippling of the phone. As far as 6.5, it will be out there, but I know, you have the attention span of a gnat and you'll cry because you can't have your unrerasonable demands met. I pity your parents.

I'm with Scroffy. As I have said in many posts I work for a chipset manufacturer and I mentioned awhile back I built one of our chipsets for this phone at the beginning of June, and that it's usually 6 months after that is when you see it on shelves. Now people are complaining it's not out yet? The original Omnia didn't come out to VZW till December 08, it's only October, so they should have the successor after 10 months? Nobody complains when the Iphone takes an entire year to do less of and update each time. But not ok for Samsung and Verizon? Makes not sense.

I have seen test models of this phone on the vzw network for months now. I have seen the upgrades since it's initial launch as I know a VZW beta tester... and nothing has changed from what he has told me as far as functionality goes from the first beta sw release to the current software that is on there now. When I got to play with it 3 months ago, the phone was awesome and I wanted it. Now it will come out at the end of october, when the UK gets the LEO which is superior in every way to any windows phone out right now? And rumars that it will come to the US early 2010 means that vzw will probably get it october of next year.... so if i upgrade now, I won't be able to upgrade again until June 2011. I don't want to pay full retail for the LEO/HD2 or a comparable model that could be upgraded to WM7 when it is released and be stuck with 6.5. I like to be on top of things when it comes to technology, and would rather not dish out $800 in one year for a phone with 2x everything hardware-wise in a phone.

So like I said... I will wait and VZW can keep wasting money by trying to market me to get me to upgrade. I would settle for the TG01 because of the SNapdragon 1GHz processor... blah blah...

I call total bs on skirtwearer. Months my ass. It was first announced in mid June. GSM test units were getting out in July. Initial CDMA units weren't even available for any testing at all until August. Ooooh, she knows a beta tester, so that is evidence that nothing has changed. So not only is she a spoiled child with immediate gratification needs, but a liar as well.

And what is the big deal about >65k? It's been a limitation of windows mobile, but honestly, there are bigger functionality issues than rendering more colors that most people can't discriminate between anyway.

There will always be delays getting phones to market, no matter what carrier you are with in the US. When your dream phone finally is available, you will always have a new dream phone, so you kids will never be happy

Thank you...well said...my only complaints are the placement of the Headphone jack, and MiniUSB port...not a deal breaker, I just don't understand why they would put them on the side of the phone, maybe it has to with the slim form of the phone...anyway...I hope they drop it in October but November is fine too, be a nice Bday gift to myself...

as far as 6.5 I doubt u will even notice WinMo is there with samsung's UI all over the phone...if u don't like that try SPB Mobile shell, or wait for the 6.5 ROM that will be out soon after the release of the Omnia II

Your a moron, the more you wait the more money Verizon makes, they build your "new every two" into the monthly rates, so if you don' t upgrade on time, then you give them that much more money. They don't really care, except if you leave.
