thats funny theyre marketing it as such, dashboard is actually the name of the "red bar" vzw ui. if you find some early articles about the switch back from the vx7000 days youll hear it referenced as such, though they never really stuck with the name

One of the best things I like about this phone is the FM tuner. Nice touch.

you mean fm transmitter, you can't pick up radio stations with the phone. It broadcast out the songs you have saved to the phone.

It actually is an FM Tuner not a transmitter. You will be able to listen to the radio from your phone.

No..I was right when I said FM Transmitter. There is no radio built into this phone. It transmits your saved music to a radio such as your car stereo or any other radio for that matter.

"The Chocolate 3 will also be the first Verizon device to have an integrated FM Transmitter so that you can listen to your stored music on any near by FM Radio Receiver."

And 1 GB of internal memory isn't too shabby either.

I've had a V710 forever and I'm more than a year past my free every two.. looks like I'll finally be upgrading! I'd perfer the Dare but really don't need all the glitz and glamour... Choc3 should do it unless there's something better!

doesnt anybody think that this isnt really the upgrade to the 8550 but the 8600 - i mean the 8600 was supposed to be the flip chocolate - soooo wouldnt that mean that this is really the upgrade to that?

it kinda takes from and upgrades both, but the upgd to the vx8600 was really the vx8700 which is getting an upgd soon

i disagree with that - the numbers are sequential... but really. when it comes down to it - no external music controls on the 8700 and the fashion label on the it would really make me belive it was just a different line. the 8600 had the red touch controls on the outside just like the 8500 and the 8550 for that matter...i think verizon just got rid of the 8600 early and adopted the 8700 because alltell took the 8600 as thier flagship phone

nah, the 8600 was dumped early because it had problems....I think I swapped that one out for customers more often than the original choclate.

Well, I dont think the model numbers mean a thing. For example, Theres The V which is the 9800, then the EnV which is the 9900 and then the Voyager which is the 10000 but they also have the EnV2 which is the 9100. If the numbers really mattered the EnV2 would be the 10000 and the voyager will be the 9100.

the reason the 8600 was dumped pre-mature was due to the software upgrades not fixing the issues it had. thats the only reason. No one cared about the 5th largest cell company using our 8600.

Actually it does look a little like a Nano. Great phone though 1 gig, you don't see that too much.

Upon prior launch of the LG Decoy (LG-VX8610)... I thought the Decoy was the new Chocolate, and the LG 8560 was the new replacement... going by looks and functionality alone, instead of the sequential numbers in the names. But, I was wrong... and even though I would prefer a slider phone to match up with the other past 2 Chocolates, this may be a new change that the Chocolate is needing to redeem itself from problems from the prior two sliders.
