The EU to allow mobile phone calls in its aircrafts

A new technology, allowing the initiation of phone calls without the risk of interference with the aircraft systems, is planned to be proposed for approval to the EU member states. The reservation of space for the airwaves needed has already been recommended to the EU countries’ governments. Using the new technology, the on-board phone calls will be redirected first to a satellite and then transmitted to the carrier’s network, which will definitely increase the price of the service. Even with that system, the use of mobile devices during flights will be forbidden when the plane is below 3000 meters (1.86 miles) height.

Great! I can't wait to annoy my fellow passengers with my phone conversations.

You can't run far on a plane, so there's no way you'll escape from all those phone-addicted people surrounding you in a packed Airbus.
