At the Wireless Innovations 2008 conference, T-Mobile’s vice president and general manager of broadband and new business division, Joe Sims, confirmed the carrier is preparing Android-based phones. He said he has seen prototypes, and the final phones are scheduled to ship in the fourth quarter of the year. Sims also added that he is impressed with those handsets and thinks they will be “innovation across the board”, instead of just another device.
Additionally, Android OS fans will be happy to know that Qualcomm’s product manager for systems software at chip division confirmed the company is working with OEMs on more than five Android handsets, which should ship in the next 12 to 18 months.
