T-Mobile G1 now comes with a 3.5mm adapter?

Keep in mind that the information in this article is not official.

Some users were upset, because the G1’s box does not include an adapter with 3.5mm stereo jack. They had to either use only miniUSB headphones, or buy the adapter separately. These adapters could be found for as low as $2, but after all it’ll cost you time to get one, because you’ll either have to go to the store, or order it online. According to a recent information, in the newer sets of the first Android phone, this has been fixed.

The HTC Dream is an awful phone for google's OS. I love google, but I can't see the OS to its full potential without basic media necessities that the iphone has. I'm hoping the "G2" will be the HTC Touch HD, but with a 3.5 headphone jack. On the brightside, I think the G1 has A2DP for wireless headphones....

Wait... you're telling me that the iPhone which requires either a risky hack to possibly VERY expensive headphones or a separately purchased adapter is ANY different than what's going on with the G1 ? At least TMO is bowing to it's users and including the adapter.
Basic media necessities? You plug it into your USB port, you transfer MP3s and movies onto it and you play them with free software. I'm fascinated that you think being ham fisted into using iTunes is a necessity. All you have to do to add a ringtone to the G1 is move an mp3 over to it and assign it. You can download an app for cutting up mp3s to make them more suitable as ringtones. Try doing that with an iPhone without jailbreaking it. We just saw the announcement that Adobe Flash will soon be on the G1... impossible with the current SDK agreement for iPhone dev.
The G1 is a cheap piece of hardware no doubt. It lacks the finish that Apple applies to all of it's devices. I'm going to get annoyed with it's construction at some point and upgrade to a different Android device. I have no qualms stating that.

well iphones dont need the adapter anymore, the 3g iphone just has a 3.5

Seriously?! Upset over an adapter? I dunno.... If the phone has A2DP (Stereo BT), just buy a good set of A2DP headsets and be done with wires.... Sorry iPhone ppl... you're out of luck
