If you have an unlocked iPhone and want to be able to send and receive MMS, head to the Installer.app and download SwirlyMMS v1.0. You can try the fully working demo for 14 days before deciding if to purchase it (at a price of $8) or not. After the application is installed and you’ve rebooted the iPhone, you must input the operator settings for MMS and can then start sending and receiving multimedia messages.

We tested it and it works just as you'd expect!

Um, the world's most advanced phone. See the iPhone is so ahead of the other plain phones that needed a third party to develop a newer MMS software. Is that good enough for ya?

Every other phone in the world has mms and not all of them have e-mail capability. It's not a matter of laziness, but the fact that a lot of people don't use e-mail on there phones.

at least we have 3rd party apps. so if there's anything that is missing from the product, a developer can add it in later. They should have put it in at the very beginning, but for one reason or another, they didn't. there's probably a good reason why they didn't. And its kind of funny how most of the posts are from people ho hate the iphone. You guys are giving a lot of attention to a phone that you guys don't really like. I think its kind of funny but sad at the same time.

No developer is going to put it on b/c it has to go through apple. If apple doesn't want it it's not going to be in the app store. It's not that open of a network... everything still has to go through apple. I was going to get this phone until i realized what its missing... no stereo bluetooth, no video recording, no mms, no copy n paste, no removable battery/memory, and a pretty crappy camera (with no flash). Woopdi doo they added 3G...my phone 2 yrs ago had 3g. What exactly are you paying for??...good phone service hahhaha,... cuz we all know how great Att is with that. I'll just stick with my verizon phone that cost 30 bucks and can do more with on a better network. Girl on the bus next to me today had an iphone and she had 3 dropped calls on a 10 min phone convo lolol made me laugh cuz she didn't know any better... I've had about 3 dropped calls in the past 2 yrs with VZW.

what you all dont realize is that iphone is changing the way we send mms. with the use of google chat and email, i guarantee that we wont be sending regular text messages or picture messages anymore. paying for your data network will eliminate the cost of those pricey texting plans. so in a couple of years, the same people making fun of the iphone for not having mms will be bashing other phones in the future that require texting plans.

Oh stop making excuses defending this... What it comes down to is that not everyone has the internet on their phone... no google chat no email. MMS and SMS is the one common feature all phones should have

sike! Not until the new RIM Blackberry Storm comes out all of you will be looking up at us VZW customers. I have nothing against the iPhone, but there is a lot missing to it. If anyone here thinks this is the perfect phone, you are wrong. no matter how much technology we get no device period will be perfect.

Uhhh I get so tired of iphone owners defending their phone like it's their first born!!! YES I have an iphone and YES i like it alot! Should the iphone have MMS ? Certainly it should! There are many reasons why it should! NO reasons why it shouldn't! ARGH! I have NO alliance to Apple and it's VERY clear they have NONE for the customer. AGAIN, I like my iphone! Furthermore, does AT&T have the best network? NO proven over and over and over again that it's not, even by their own CEO's article. Has anyone one taken the time to work through the AT&T website and see their actual 3 G coverage footprint? It's laughable! Then look at 3g coverage for Verizon , Sprint, Alltel, BLOWS AT&T away. So my point is there is GOOD and BAD in all!!!! For the love of GOD when some says something about Iphone or AT&T, don't act as if the spoke of your mother. In a perfect world, Iphone 3G, w/MMS, on Verizon 3G network, with GSM for world use, with tethering! But the world isn't perfect and neither is the IPHONE!.... whew feel better!

first off I love my iPhone, second its not the perfect device. That said, it needs mms, yes the app store brings a slim possibility for an mms app but as previously said it has to get through apple. Not likely for now. Maybe later. More likely in a new firmware update than a third party app. But that's still not likely for the near future. As far as coverage goes. The 2G iPhone has its moments where coverage is bad I'll admit. And edge sucks. Its not 2001. As far as 3G goes. At&t uses UMTS HSDPA better and faster than vzw CDMA2000, don't believe me do your research. The nationwide footprint is not as large as some others I'll admit but every major metro area has good coverage. Socal for instance is covered. And that's more than 3 major metro areas. I can't and won't speak about others though. But I can say that here in so cal alltell is a joke. And sprint has a large 3G footprint but still has subpar coverage. Yes verizon has the largest most complete network here but like I said CDMA2000 is inferior to UMTS. Other features are being taken care of. Like voice features. Fonix will have an app that adds voice dialing recording and the rest. And the other apps utility or whatnot are far superior than other phones, again not being a fanboy just stating facts. The sister apps on other phones such as epocrates drug guide just can't match. And as for rim... LOL right they just got big because of compatibilty and open use. Oh and a few capabilties no one else really had at the time. The new blackberry 9000 is proof rim recognizes they are behind. It looks like the iPhone, has a touchscreen butstill a physical qwerty. So a smaller screen. And I bet itll show fewer colors and pixels too like almost every other phone. Not to mention touchscreen are pretty much novelty without multi touch. Sure theyre great but nothing a scroll ball can't do. Yes apple should have added the simple things. Like cut/copy/paste, mms, video/voice re ording but that's all software. Meaning it can and pro ably will be there in the future. If not just jailbreak. Even without its still one of the easiest to use and feature rich phones available.

All the commenters that rant about the iPhone are pathetic and scared of something... Not sure what. Jailbreaking is incredibly easy and if something goes wrong, you just restore it! It took 10 mins for me to jaibreak mine! This is the greatest machine ever and you all are just either jealous that you bought some excuse for a device like Glyde or just cannot buy an iPhone for a higher price that is unlocked...

Has anyone actually tried the software to see if it works on the Iphone? I am in Australia and i do send a lot of pics to family of my girls and none of them use email on their mobiles due to the extra cost of data packages. I love the features of the Iphone especially the querty board on the touch screen but I would miss not being able to use MMS. I am scared of getting the Iphone and then not finding software to fix the MMS problem.
