Spy photos of the Samsung Glyde 2 for Verizon This article contains unofficial information.

advertisment:
The FCC profile of a Samsung handset, dubbed the U960, emerged back in April. We believed this one was actually the Samsung Glyde 2, sporting a full touch-sensitive screen and a side-sliding QWERTY keyboard. However, there hasn’t been any new info about it until earlier today, when a tipster of ours directed our attention to a post at HowardForums, where a user had shared images that seem to reveal the Glyde 2 for Verizon. There isn’t any other information about its hardware - we can only see that the screen is large and the keyboard is a four-row one. The interface is, certainly, Samsung’s own TouchWiz with homescreen widgets. Enjoy the pics!

I wonder if this one will be any better than the last one? Then again how could it not be as bad as the touch screen was and as chimproves there smart phone selection and eap as the hardware felt. I still think the env touch will be better than this on vz. Ill be glad when the make there smart phone selection better. Verizon and Sprint are the only coverages around here soi hope verizon does something because sprint has very bad customer service and it savesbyou money when everyone you know has vz.

The Glyde 2 is based off the flagship Omnia Pro, as the Glyde was off the f700.

Why would they keep the Glyde name? The Glyde was a HORRIBLE phone and I'm sure it has left more than just a bad taste in consumers (and even agents)'s mouths.

Yeah, I work for an indirect store and every one of my customers had problems with the Glyde. I don't intend on carrying a Glyde 2 until it's been out a few months and I can see that nobody's bringing them into my store for tech support.

I've completely lost faith in any Samsung phone that gets released for VZW. Them seem to have the GSM side locked down as far as good phones, but the CDMA team cant seem to get ANYTHING right....

GSM Samsung = WIN!
CDMA Samsung = EPIC FAILURE!

Well if history can teach us something, look at the "Impression" (ATT), very similar. Although this will be on Big Red, the user interface seems a lil bit updated and I wouldn't be surprised to see this phone turn out to be the next big beautiful AMOLED touchscreen that couldn't. In todays world of mobile apps, selling me a phone with carrier/manufacturer based U/I is like talking a dog off a meat truck. Don't compare it to the first one... Big Red and Samsung should have put Win 6.5 on this.... I'm still waiting for BB to introduce this form factor.. In the end the Glyde2 will give teenie boppers something new to brag about...

Well I can tell you guys that this phone has very little in common with its older sister the Glyde. The UI is very different, resolution, and touch screen are far better than before. I can also say that the phone will not be the Glyde 2 but is currently named SCHU960 and or "Rogue" (names change quite frequently in testing so this may change 10 more times before launch. If anyone has questions about any new phones or testing related questions please ask away!

If you really are a Verizon Tester here's my questions... When is the Pre coming to Verizon? Have you tested it? Any inside scoop on a Verizon iPhone in 2010? Let's see how good you are.

Hey I was wondering if you had any information on the dimensions of the phone, particularly its thickness. How does it compare in thickness to the Impression? How easy is it to pocket?

If you have other dimensions for the phone too, that'd be great!

Also, is there a predicted release date?

Well, as far as the Pre goes I haven't had a chance to get my hands on it yet. Not much needs to be done to get it ready for a Verizon launch aside from the exclusivity agreement that Sprint has. It looks like an early 2010 launch. Probably end of January. I have no updates on a CDMA iphone other than the rumors that this might be our first LTE phone. But again thats just a rumor. I will mention a few things that are just around the bend that are not mentioned on the site.

1. AD3700 Global USB data card
2. PC770 Express data card that includes adapter for Type III slots
3. PCD 8030 (I realize its on the site but it will be called the "Razzle")
4. VZW 8990 Escapade - this will be a global device with built in SIM and will be rugged and higher end similar to the Boulder
5. Samsung 450 - nothing exciting there
