Sprint pushes back the Touch Pro

We're hearing conflicting information as to why, but the Touch Pro that was slated to launch today has been pushed back to November 2 for Sprint.  It appears to be either due to software issues, or that Sprint wants to have inventory in all channels before launch.  Given that the Diamond pretty much runs the same software, and that it didn't hit stores until almost a month after launch, we're more inclined to believe the latter theory.  Either way, we're sure there will be some disappointed users out there but the device will be available soon.

what are the people at sprint doing...this phone should of been out by now...they should work harder to get things ready when its DUE and stop delaying things...the instinct was delayed a couple times too and now the dimond and the touch pro??..no wonder their not number one...(im a sprint user)
i've been waiting for this phone for a while and everytime im ready to go get it..sprint always finds some lame excuse to set things back..all the other big companies seem to get things done in time..well at least they try to get close to the original release date..(the dimond should of been out online since august 28 and out in stores around mid sept)...!!!!!!!!

And what say you then to AT&T delaying the Bold? Yes, I'm a Sprint customer, but companies encounter problems sometimes. That is also a fact of life. You can never plan to do exactly what you want to do. Something will get in the way or something will distract you, unless you decide to sleep all day of course. >_> And BTW the Diamond is out NOW!!! Only the Pro got delayed.

AT&T's delaying the Bold because of software bugs. Orange in the UK has temporarily discontinued the Bold because of these problems, AT&T delayed it so they weren't releasing a half-assed product.

It's not a software bug- it's a SHITTY network:

http://crackberry.com/friday-rumors-microsoft-buy-rim-again-new-super-blackberry-clues-verizon-s torm-launch-date-bold-dela

5. AT&T Bold Delays - AT&T customers are still waiting for the Bold, though I'm sure the Storm marketing hype has many of you contemplating jumping ship if it becomes available first. We know it is coming soon... but the point of this post is to relay more of a "technical" explanation for what has caused the delays to begin with (it also explains why New York HATED my BlackBerry Bold). The info comes not from me (remember, I'm just the Addict!), but from a trusty source in the know:

The issue is with the AT&T 3G Network. The Bold uses Multi PDP context in its data communications and the AT&T network is not optimized for it. It requires a 2-stage network software upgrade by its 3G vendor, Ericsson. Only 30% of the network is upgraded completely and the rest is still pending. If the device is launched without these upgrades the network will suffer bandwidth crunch and speeds would have to be capped at 128kbps! The Tri-State region is one of the market areas that is still in line for the upgrade which makes sense based on your experience with your Bold in NYC.

This upgrade effort is high priority and slotted to complete by Oct 31st. Nov 1st week is the planned launch timeframe for the Bold and with the latest firmware the BlackBerry Bold is a rock solid device, despite what you may have heard elsewhere.

How do like that explanation?! Have patience AT&T friends... the Bold is an awesome device worth waiting for and should hopefully be here soon.

Just give it to Verizon and let them sell more than Sprint would ever dream of. Why does Sprint ALWAYS get phones? No one ever wants to buy from them. Give the good phones to carriers that matter.

well it has something the to do with the carrier wanting to get the phones. Maybe you should talk to the people in charge of getting new devices at verizon.....

Who, Verizon?
Their PDA/Blackberry lineup is pathetic. The only new phones they have been getting are mediocre touch screen phones, or cheap low grade RAZR reincarnations. And I'm a fan of verizon. They need to start focusing on their PDA lineup again, because they're becoming a teen texting device carrier. GIVE ME MY TOUCH PRO! GIVE ME MY BLACKBERRY NIAGRA! GIVE ME SOME NEW PDAS VERIZON!

That is a great point. From thier phones to their adds everything is very teen/family orianted with is nice for people on family plans but does nothing for business users which want high end business phones with full slide out QWERTY keyboards.

why would someone want to go to verizon and pay almost twice as much for slower data then sprint. yes sprint used to suck about getting phones but they are starting to pick their act up and they have the best selection out the for pda's and a unlimited plan that beats everyone else.

wait for the blackberry storm it will prolly rule all phones. you get what you pay for. if you get sprint in your area and are poor and dont travel then get that. but if you can afford to pay verizons not that expensive plans, biggest 3g coverage and best coverage on average, then get verizon. plus if all your friends and family have verizon i suggest you get that.

ive already used the storm and i can say it sucks badly. the touchscreen isnt worth the waiting for it to work. as for verizon and htc touch pro they will get the phone but it will come to sprint first. keep in mind it is still a phone. no phone is perfect and no phone ever will be. someone will have something to stay negatively about every phone so just deal with it.

Look The storm is not even out yet how can you say the touch screen sucks???? first of all have you tried the Iphone?? you know who made the touch screen for that phone?? Rim did ok... Rim helped apple with the touchscreen and honestly the iphone touch screen is pretty cool even tho the iphone sucks lol anyway Rim always works wit blackberry, and the touch screen as i hear is like so much better than the iphone's touch screen so dont hate plus the storm is going to be the best pda phone thats going to be out there in the market.. I work For verizon sooo i get in the inside and yes the storm is like no other... thats all i got to say about that.... sooooooooo Dont hate punk.. lol

No, you're wrong.
It is NOT the same touch screen as the iphone.

It is an odd new technology called click touch, in which you have to touch the area of the phone twice before the item is selected. That goes for the keyboard as well. The Storm is a lot of talk, but when its released, I doubt it will be worth the price. Something like a CDMA Bold would do much better on the lineup IMO, and an HTC Touch Pro would be nice as well.

I don't know why people keep saying sprint sucks, because I've compared prices with other phone companies and I would pay more and no I don’t have the zero plan. I get great service here in Los Angeles. Never had a problem with any part of there service. If anything were sprint fails is marketing there products, I always see Verizon commercials and AT&T. .I hardly ever see a Sprint commercial, especially about there phones. Look I love Sprint because if my phone not working right I take it to there repair shops, 30 minutes to 1 hour later my phone is fix, if not they send me one in 2 days. For those of you that have AT&T and Verizon good for you, there two very good companies, but believe it or not there is actually happy sprint costumers out there

They are still hurting from the merger with Nextel. There is no way Sprint can buy VZW... VZW has more customers, more revenue, less churn, and loyal customers.

sprint has faster data and better phones on what they can do. all verizon does is make lots of phones for teens girls who like to text and put the same software on everything so its the same phone but in a different shell. Phones that do more+faster data+better monthly prices. why pay 750 deposit for a service that is going to restrict everything you do. we already have a gov't that restricts and controls us why the cell phone carries as well?

With Verizon you can't even download Opera Mini on the damn Voyager and most phones. You end up paying way more with Verizon. Sprint has great service, fast network, good signal and great prices. Thats way I switched to Sprint and I don't regret it and when the pro comes out its all mine, so what if I have to wait a couple of weeks more.

I don't mind the delay that much if they are working on tech issues but.. It must $%^& $%&^ for those people that bought the diamond and want to swap their phones before the 30 days...

i am one of those people(that got the DIAMOND, but now i want the PRO) I already have something set up with sprint. i already had the diamond for about to months by the time the PRO comes out.The DIAMOND is soooo nice, but come on "business card reader" i gots to know what that is all about.

Sprint called me to let me know that yes, it will come out Nov.2

so they told me it WAS going to be past my 30 days, so it was them that told me they can work something out. So i will get the PRO as soon as it comes out.

THEY stayed on top of it all just to make me happy!
THEY called me multiple times (all calls were made by the same agent, but he would always call me when i was busy"no problem sir I can call you at a later time)
I didn't have to call them multiple times and had to talk to multliple agents.
ONE agent solved my issue!

take that vergayzon, T-mamada, at&crap

I am so glad i stuck to Sprint this whole time, and didn't jump ship just to get an Ipitillo. Man, now everyone and their mama has one, even Bunty at the local kquiky mart has one.

SPRINT IS COMING BACK BIG TIME AND TRUST ME WITH THIS KIND OF CUSTOMER SERVICE, THEY WILL BUY VERGAYZON !!!!!!!

I'll just say it, EVERY CARRIER SUCKS!!! it's the options that work for each person that makes us choose them. Please contribute to something intellectual in these boards. The title is a delay in a phone, not, "you, that hasn't been out of their house, please tell me something sucks."

WTG! I agree, every carrier has their own downfall. I do, however, think that Sprint is quickly on the upswing here. Both with customer service and kick@ss phones.
