Sprint launches first EV-DO Rev A-capable card

Today Sprint announced the launch of the first EV-DO Revision A capable device in the US market - the Novatel Wireless Merlin S720. The device, which will used with compatible laptops and other devices like wireless routers, will operate on Sprint's Power Vision Network. It will take advantage of the new EV-DO Revision A technology, which will be launched in Q4 and is expected to cover more than 40 million people by the end of the year. Maximum supported speeds are said to be of about 450-850 kbps and 300-400 kbps, respectively for download and upload. The Merlin S720's retail price is $249.99 and costs $99.99 with a two-year contract.
