Sprint launches WebCap Tel – an online call captioning service

Today, Sprint announced WebCap Tel, a new free web-based service to help customers with impaired hearing. The new feature will enable users who have trouble hearing, to read the written captions of the speech belonging to the person on the other end of the line, while using their cell phone, landline, or amplified phone. For that purpose, customers will have to have access to an Internet browser and log on to www.sprintcaptel.com, during a call. There caption will appear as the speaker talks making it easy to have a conversation. The people taking advantage of the WebCap Tel service will also have the option to change the font size, color, background and to save the text after a call has ended, to review it later. The free feature will not be available on international calls.
