A new national system for emergency alerts is being tested in Contra Costa, California. The idea is to trial a system capable of sending targeted, location based alerts when disaster strikes. Those messages will give people advice on how to proceed in a given situation. The test Sprint Nextel Corporation is having is based on SquareLoop technology.
