Samsung ZX20 and T719 meet FCC

The FCC has just approved two GSM Samsung phones – the ZX20 HSDPA and T719 Blackberry phone, respectively for Cingular and T-Mobile USA. The ZX20 was announced and showcased at the CES 2006 show in January, while the T719 was showed at the CTIA 2006 last week. Both phones are quad-band GSM clamshells, with swiveling camera, and both bring innovations – the SGH-ZX20 was the first HSDPA phone announced for Cingular. Samsung announced that it as a dual-band US UMTS phone (850 and 1900 MHz), but the FCC pages show that it also supports the 2100MHz band for Europe, which makes it world GSM and 3G phone that can work on all continents.

On the other hand, the SGH-T719 has only EDGE for high-speed data (which isn't really “high-speed” compared to HSDPA and even UMTS) but it is the first Blackberry phone in a clamshell design. It has SureType keyboard, large display and nice email features.

The ZX20 is expected to launch with Cingular in Q2, while the T719 is expected to launch with T-Mobile in Q3 this year. Still, there is no information on the exact price.
