Well, here you have it folks - the Austrian division of Microsoft has announced that the recently-unveiled Samsung Omnia II will hit Austrian stores at the end of September. We hope it won’t take long before it launches in other countries (Verizon will offer it in the States) too! What’s interesting is that it seems the smartphone will launch with Windows Mobile 6.5 on board, in contrast to previous information, going it would run on 6.1.Sounds good, doesn't it?

In case you are not familiar with the device, we'll present you some of its features. The Omnia II has a big 3.7-inch AMOLED screen with WVGA (480x800 pixels) resolution and a 5-megapixel autofocus camera with image stabilization. It also has everything a smartphone of this class should have: 3G, Wi-Fi, GPS and support for Xvid and DivX video files. On top of the Windows Mobile 6.5 OS, you'll find Samsung's TouchWiz interface, also present in the Samsung Jet… yes, that includes the 3D cube. Oh, September seems so distant now...

Hopefully the UK will get it in July or August with win mobile 6.1 then upgradable to 6.5 in September, dont want to wait for the END of September, we want this phone before the Autumn

on samsungs website look closely at the image !

this 360 view

on back you will notice something ... 8megapixel camera ! wonder if it will be true coz on this image its marked that is has got 8megapixels but specs said that will be 5 but its also ok :)

Um, you need glasses, it's the way that they wrote the 5 in block lettering that makes it look like an 8.

I can not find a link on the Samsung web site for the Omnia II.............just the first Omnia which has a 5 megapixel camera.

acc to my info ...

verizon version will have 5 megapix
european will have 8 megapix

other standards in Europe than US :)

i know you can type so you must be able to read...all websites have this phone listed at 5mp. 8mp was an early rumor that was squashed within a day. and there are no camera phone "standards"
