Samsung Omnia II comes to Verizon

While Samsung has announced four new Omnia phones yesterday, it wasn’t clear which will be the carriers to offer these. PCMagazine has informed that the Samsung Omnia II will follow in the footsteps of its predecessor and become available with Verizon Wireless. Bill Ogle, CMO at Samsung, has talked about the success the original Omnia saw, while introducing the new WM smartphone for the carrier.

Besides the newer TouchWiz 2.0 interface, the Omnia II will also be updatable to Windows Mobile 6.5. As of now, there is no information regarding the release date and the price of the new smartphone, but we hope to see it up and running soon enough.

Well, I'm not too bothered by this announcement. I'm just excited to read more about this particular phone and all its functions.

Im not bothered by the announcement either. What bothers me that Samsung said current Omnia owners could update there phones to the new Touch Wiz UI but in the end it was a either a lie or a stall tactic till the new Omnia 2 came out. Depending on when Verizon gets this phone and what things they change/cripple will determine if i buy this or a HTC Touch Pro 2.

I'm actually wondering if the original omnia will be able to get an upgrade to WM 6.5 when it comes out.

The original Omnia will not be getting an update to windows 6.5 and its not getting the Touch Wiz update either.
