22. Really like this phone

When I started looking into the new touch phones knowing my upgrade was coming I originally was going to go with the storm - went to store to get the feel of the storm - decided right there that I didn't like it - it was slow - hard to type (I have nails and keyboard too small) so then I started looking at the Omnia and was hesitant at first but am really glad I decided on it. Picked it up last Saturday and am loving it granted it is going to have its quirks (it a windows phone ) I have not had a problem with the battery as some have complained about. I put it on the charger at nite and it is fine all day for calls, and email - the key here is to make sure you close down tasks you are not doing and battery will work fine. Have no problem typing on the keyboard. There is a small learning curve to get used to win mobile mostly - I put the spb shell on and it is great. Coming from a regular phone I thought I would have a problem but not the case here.

23. Great phone

I bought the EnV when it first came out a few years back, and LOVED it. I've been waiting for something ever since that I would like just as well. My company told me they would pay for a PDA phone, so I went and did my research. I settled on the Omnia. It is, without a doubt, the best phone I've ever had. It meets all of my needs. It keeps me organized, lets me play my music, takes fantastic pictures, and is really fast on the net for a phone. The only complaints I really have about it are that the stylus isn't attached to the phone, and the accelerometer is a bit sluggish. Many people seem to have issues with typing on the keypad, but that's mostly due to human error. I found it hard to begin with, but once I learned the technique, and that you can't type anything head on, I don't make errors. Fantastic phone, I'd recommend it to anyone.

24. Samsung Omnia thoughts...

So yesterday my Omnia came in the mail...first impression was very good. I really enjoyed activating and starting to play with my new phone. My wife also got her Storm in the mail the same day. So, needless to say, it was a good day at my house. After fumbling around a bit, I am now a bit torn. As I was trying to type and hitting the wring keys and options due to the SMALL letter and number sizes, my wife was typing away with hardly any errors. I was just a bit proturbded. So I pull out the mini stylus pen....what a pain. Do they really expect my to use that thing just about any time I need to type something or choose an option? If your hands are at all thicker or "worked", you will have issues using your fingers for sure. Is this an issue for anyone else? I'm thinking about exercising my right to swap phones at verizon and going after a Storm myself. I have changed font sizes and all that jazz, but without the "pen on a string", you are pretty much screwed. Any thoughts?
-Wifi...but do you need this with the unlimited Internet you get with your plan?

25. Samsung Omnia Review

I originally had the voyager. I liked it when i first got it. Then I hated it. I wanted something better. So I got my early upgrade and i got the Omnia.
First off. Nice slim, light phone. Nice touchscreen. Pretty visible in the sun.
Features.
5mp camera. Okay quality. But best camera phone I've used.
Call quality Good. Speakerphone. Good.
Performance.
The accelerometer was OK. It moved when tilted. But it tended to move in my pocket even when locked. Or even when on the phone call. The screen is supposed to lock automatically. But sometimes it doesn't. Or the screen will go blank.
The menu. I hated. The widgets didn't work for me. I wanted the date and time. and at least a message thing. But the problem is, when you drag it, it took up to much of the screen. I didn't like it. So i switched it to the samsung today screen, which was much better for use. With this phone, i felt like i had to open and go to different menu's to access either phonebook, or messaging. It's probably the Windows Mobile which didn't really work with me. I liked the openness of the OS, but it gets to complicated.
Tex-ting was OK. The qwerty keyboard felt cramped up. And i felt like i was hitting the wrong keys.
Battery life was sup bar. I felt like i left the house with a full bar, and getting home with already 2 bars left.
The signal reception was weird. I've always had good reception in the NYC area. But with the phone it was up and down. and some areas i had no reception in areas i had good reception.
Overall.
An Ok phone. For more business ppl. May Like.
Next i'll try my luck with the Phone. Or just wait..until something better comes...

This Phone is excellent choice best windows smartphone on the market the camera is a little overhyped its still better than the iphones though the battery-life could have been a bit better this phone needs not to be compared to the BEHOLD or the ETERNITY its a smartphone not a feature phone VERIZON announced that it will be unlocking the GPS feature so great news for Omnia users Opera 9.5 is great browser
Great Webrowser
WIFI
GPS (will be unlocked soon)
Decent camera (although overhyped)
STORAGE CAPACITY (need i say more)Battery Life
WIN-MO application developers always want money for their 3pty apps
Verizon Focused all its Publicity on the overrated Blackberry storm

27. Software incompatibility
17 Dec 2008 by derek

This phone is, or could be, perfect. It's ideal for me in size b/c I'm bigger.
The landscape keyboard is great, and love the vibrating feedback. I have found this phone nearly perfect in every aspect.
Designwise, I wish the volume rocker was higher on the phone. It's located on the lower right, which is a weird place when I'm on a call trying to adjust the volume.
Accelerometer is great! It's quick to me.
My biggest gripe, and it's a big one, is that the Omnia screen size (200x400 or something like that) doesn't support much software! I've tried to download software from Handango, and hardly any of them are compatible. I REALLY wanted to put MobiTV or HandiTV on it, and it just doesn't work. MobiTV flat out won't load and give an error. Other game software only shows up on about 3/4 of the screen, and there's no way to play any of them without using your stylus (which is just don't use b/c I don't like the stupid dangling option for it!). Anyhow, I've had to request refunds for 3 of the 4 downloads.
SO, on the software compatibility issues alone, I may return it. I'm very torn b/c I love the phone otherwise. If anyone has any suggestions, please tell me!
You need to attach the provided headset adapter to listen to the FM radio, as it's used as the antenna.
Reception is good, but my father has told me he hears some crackling when I talk to him on the phone.
That's all I have for now. I have had the phone for 2 weeks now. I'll have to decide quickly if I want to return it before my 30 days is up!
Opera browser
Accelerometer
Landscape virtual keyboard
TXT msg threading
Touchscreen is fun
Optical mouse! - I'd always wanted a mouse on WM!
Fits in my hand perfectly (prob b/c I have bigger hands)
Good scrolling through programs; swipe to move from picture to picture in viewing photos/etc.
WiFi and 3G work great - so fast!3rd party software compatibility issues!!!
Weird location for earphones/etc... no regular earphone hole - you need to use their adapter which comes out of the left side. Just more wires to carry around!

29. Great Phone but has its bugs

The phone itself is great. It took me a couple of days to get use to, but for the most part I love it. With that being said, the only thing I dislike, and acutally may return the phone because of this, is that when the phone is completely chared it sends out a notification and also plays an alarm / tone. I don't know about most of you, but I charge my phone at night and don't care to be woken up at 3:00 in the morning just to know that my phone is fully charged. You can turn down the acutally handset volume, but doing so also controls your text message and other notifications volumes (everything except for a normal phone call ring). Granted, I can live without knowing I have text messages coming in at night, but if you forget to turn down the volume....well you will get your friendly reminder of knowing your phone is fully charged. I have looked through all the notification settings and none of them control this reminder. I have also looked through the registry to try an adjust it...no luck. I have also contacted Verizon and Samsung and both of them have yet to find a way to disable it. For some of you, this may be ok, but for me it actually may be enough to return the phone. Which is a shame, because overall this is an excellent phone!
>>>Great design
>>>Lots of good features>>>Unable to control some of the notificatiosn. Mainly, the alarm that goes off when your phone is fully charged.
>>>After connecting to my Exchange server, I did notice a performance issue. Screens that use to take milliseconds to load, now take 2-3 seconds.
>>>You can disable other notifications such as when new emails come into your inbox, but the device seems to ignore those settings and still displays the noficications.

Its loaded down with software and it a neat toy for the Techno geeks of the world to play with.
