Samsung Omnia CDMA Review

The Samsung Omnia i910 for Verizon Wireless is almost an exact clone of the GSM variant we reviewed earlier this summer. It is an impressive device, combining a large 3.2-inch touch-sensitive display and 5MP autofocus camera with the Windows Mobile 6.1 Professional operating system...

Verizon website says "Processor: MSM7500". This is a much slower processor than the GSM Omnia. See verizon website http://www.verizonwireless.com/b2c/store/controller?item=phoneFirst&action=viewPhoneDetail&selected PhoneId=4366

The Verizon site is incorrect. People how own it can go into the "About" screen and it lists the processor as ARM920T PXA312. See thread:

I have a question for you people a little more phone savvy than me.
In theory could you not allocate some if not all of the 8 gb to virtual memory. Then just use the sd card for just whatever else.

first time user of Winmo 6.1. battery life sucked at first until i figure out to disconnect the internet connection. camera is good but flash sucks, it makes everything white. FM radio would be better if worked without the adapter. screen not that good should be like touchpro, iphone, storm, etc. The mouse works great. touch player is good but it doesn't play WMV videos, so i have to convert to DivX. i don't know if it's just my phone but everytime i used Wifi it doesn't work everytime after i turn off/ on the phone or sync with pc. i go into file explorer unload, load WLAN inorder for it to work.

Has anyone had reception problems as discussed in the review? I presently have an Iphone and have been to looking to switch back to Verizon because of the iphones tendency to "Call Fail" That being said Omnia seems the most comparable.

Depends where you live. If you live in a fringe VZW area it may not be the best for you. If you live in a good coverage area you wont have any problems. if all else fails you can do the 30 day test drive.

hey i got the dare and the touchscreen on that is pressure sensitive, and its made of plastic, which isnt bad and works amazing just like the rest of the phone for a while, but just like in my old voyager, after about a good month and a half or so of use (11000 texts last month on the dare, which is all touchscreen haha) the touchscreen is starting to get a lil soft and squishy. the omnias i was readin had pressure sensitive plastic display also and i was thinking about getting it. anyone know if the screen will start to "squish" after a while like the dares kinda does?

yea thats true dude, and i would use the stylus most of the time but my girlfriends a heavy texter so i text her a lot, and texting with a stylus would be too slow, and i was just wonderin if the quality of the screen was durable enough for extensive use

Wow. That's about the saddest comment ever. The fact that it has a mouse makes it 'way to complicated'? Samsung was trying to make things simpler and more convenient by adding another input method. Suit yourself, though.

I just got the Omnia and so far i love it. I have only had one day of use out of it so far but it is everything i expected from it. I upgraded from the i760 and can notice many changes that have improved its use. I have noticed a little bit of a lag but i was expecting it from a windows mobile phone. I would rate this phone an 8.5

I actually own the Omnia. And it being my first touch screen phone (and smartphone for that matter), I think it is a wonderful phone. While i have anywhere from one to two bars in my CONCREAT school, outside i usually have full bars. The phone is easy to use and although it takes some getting used to, there isn't a huge learning curve for previous WM users. I don't know how easy it is to use for people who have never used Windows Mobile, But I took to it pretty well. There are a lot of features packed in this little phone. And if you dont see an app you need, there are millions of them online for download. It may not make VZW happy, but they're there and ready for download! Also, about the battery life. The first day I had it, I used it non-stop and killed the battery in about 5 hours. I was on YouTube, Facebook, listening to music (I prefer to use WMP, I think it's easier), and just playing with the phone in general. The second day it lasted all day, but I used it a LITTLE less. And today it still has a full battery. I love this phone and would recommened it to anyone looking for a smartphone. Even over the blackberry storm. But that is my opinion. Hope that helps some people!

I would suggest a little vocabulary clean-up and polish.

"Simplistic" usually is derogatory, meaning that it is too simple to be effective. "His refusal to ever travel outside of his home state probably contributed to his embarrassing simplistic views on international relations."

"Simple" can be good. "The design is simple, straightforward, and easy to use."

I've noticed on many reviews; you are not alone. But perhaps you could model a standard higher than the normal home made slap job?
