Samsung & LG control close to 50% of North America's phone market in Q2

advertisment:
South Korea's presence in the US phone market is becoming more prominent with both Samsung and LG gaining almost 50 percent of the market share during Q2. Almost one out of every two mobile phones sold in North America were from either of the two South Korean based manufacturers. These findings were reported by Strategic Analytics – both companies tallying a 47.3 percent share during the period and up 1.4 percent from the first quarter. The world's number two phone maker, Samsung, controlled 24.7 percent while selling a record 11.7 million units. It's the fourth straight quarter that  they grabbed the top position. On the other hand, LG came in at 22.6 percent while shipping 10.7 million units – still considered an accomplishment during these economic times. The two manufacturers combined has chipped down Nokia's market share – they saw a 6.8 percent drop during Q2. Having a strong presence in almost every wireless carrier, it's no wonder why these two have been dominating the competition over the last year. Interestingly enough, both are still trailing Nokia is terms of the total global market share. If they continue to what they do best, it may be soon enough before one of them grabs the top number one spot.

Too bad Sony Ericsson does NOT include North America as one of its phone markets (as reported MANY times in past press articles)!

Then again, SE has less than 5% of the phone market share! Too bad!

If only SE would make affordable and good quality phones!
Too much quality control problems and their phones are premium priced (i.e. Overpriced and expensive) since SE focuses on the high-end phone market!!
