Q3 results: Sprint loses $326 million

Just when you thought Sprint was coming back with a vengeance by focusing solely on its customers we find that they yielded poor third quarter results. Over the past few months, we have seen their CEO advertise their Simply Everything Plan on television in hopes of connecting with customers. They also came to realize the importance of competing with other carriers by providing PRO-rated early termination fees most recently...

The max amount you pay for Verizon's unlimited w/ a smart phone is $145/mo. and the WiMax was just released after being delayed for over a year and a half. It's only been released in 1 city, Baltimore, MA, and there has been no information released on it's next trial city.

From what I heard sprint is coming out with the blackberry touch Screen around christmas to attrack new customers. I did some homework about the VZ storm I found out Vz is asking $70 for the plan, if you select their unlimited plan they give $5 off that's nothing even if you select their unlimited plan you looking $200+per month for cell phone it's not worth it to get it I would rather stay with sprint i have great service where I am at VZ is to expenssive to have. Tell me guys do you think $200+ per month just to have a phone do you guys even have kids thinking about spending all that money per month when you can get unlimited call from cable provider think about it.

wow you are extremely wrong. RIM's ONLY touch screen device is the BB Storm. If there really was another touch device coming out for sprint around christmas dont you think that there would have been some word or advertisment about it considering christmas is literally about a month away. VZW isnt requiring ANYTHING except the data plan. you can keep your plan exactly the same if you have a basic 450min plan then thats what you will still have unless you yourself changed it. youre just trying to deter people from getting this phone...most likely youre a sprint employee. Where are you gettin 200+ per month?!?! You entire post was blatantly fabricated. go somewhere else that nonsense

so your homework is from where. vzw has no information published about the bb storm plans nor pricing for phone it self. so it seems u either are making up in the information to make your self look cool, or work for another carrier. so people are thinking that vzw will change all price points for one phone. vzw offers a bb email an web only plan for 29.99 feature or for business 44.99 i highly doubt vzw is going to change all of that for one phone. this site is more useful when people dont make up facts to justify their miserable position in the world

The truth of it is that they are creating new plans, but not just for the storm, for all data devices, Its called Nationwide connect. The pricing is consistent with whats already there, only instead of paying 79.99 for 450mins and unlimited data, you also get unlimited in and outbound messaging at that price now. The plans will start on the 16th of november when VZW enacts the rule to have all PDA/BB phones require a data plan that are released on or after 11/16/08. This of course does not include phones released prior to the 16th, and blackberries have always had this requirement. It is more uniformed and understandable now though.

because i work for verizon there WILL BE NO SPECIFIC PLAN FOR THE BB STORM OR ANY OTHER DATA DEVICE. the connect plans that launch on the 16th will include everything that a premium plan includes minus NAVIGATOR and VCAST. youll still get the unlimited data transfes but not vcast vids. now, the new connect plans ARE NOT compatable with pdas because of one small detail...MOBILE WEB. Mobile web is not compatable with pda's/smartphones

I have a lot of info regarding the new phones such as the saga, omnia, Touch Pro and the BB storm. and one thing that i can tell you as that alll of those devices that i listed WILL require data plans.... Basically what im sayiing is that ALL new pdas or smartphones from here on out WILL require a data plan...NEW PDAs so the 6800,5800,6900,palms and the motoq9c will not require a plan. only the new released data plans

how will sprint lose millions of customers over the storm?? are you serious? its a touchscreen blackberry, the selling point of the blackberry has been its good keyboard and stability. take away the keyboard and all you have left is a very limited os which will do the basic stuff fine but there's no real customization. windows mobile is by far the best os right now. im excited to see where android can go in the future but as for now wm p0wns. and sprint has some awesome phones right now like the diamond and touch pro. if sprint would advertise their good lineup and show their strengths they might improve a bit...btw i have the diamond and the phone is amazing. gotta love that vga screen :)

Windows Mobile is possibly the most sketchy OS out there right now. Even Windows Mobile 6.1 Proffessional has horrible lag time issues just like it's predacessors. The only hope for it right now is the 6.5 version that was just recently announced. Cross your fingers. Oh, and the only truly customizable OS out there is the Android system.

what do you mean by sketchy? it lurks in the dark waiting to mug people?? it IS the most customizable os right now. thousands of apps and free development. swing by ppcgeeks or xda-developers and you can get a miniscule taste of what all it has to offer. and about Android being the only true customizable os... it definitely has potential but giving Google complete access to some of your most personal information is what i define as SKETCHY! only hope for wm is 6.5? please, thats going to be a decent upgrade but nothing like wm 7 which will be built to cater to the mobile phone market whereas wm was originally made for pocket pcs....give it time wm will take over after android grabs a good share.

WM is customizable but everything else about it sucks. It freezes up more than Alaska, is totally not user friendly, and is terrible to use as a cell phone. If you want a computer, get a laptop. if you want a phone/advanced device, get a blackberry or a palm over a windows phone any day.

you make a pretty bad argument. i have the diamond and i have rarely experienced any freezes and touchflo is extremely user friendly. and terrible to use as a cell phone? that doesn't even make any sense. how is it terrible to use as a cell phone? does wm hinder the signal quality? all of that kind of stuff falls on the manufacturer. a phone/advanced device like a blackberry or a palm IS a computer you half brained twit. theyre just not run by MICROSOFT. it seems you have some hate towards microsoft...i bet you use macs dont you :D

Sprint isn't doing anything about thier sucky image, I've been with them 6 years and had the normal probs but the only 2 or 3 carriers that can save me money have data networks that aren't mature enough in addition to loosing my ptt base

The Blackberry Storm is not all that especially if compared to the HTC Touch Pro from Sprint...and is by far a very productive phone ;-)

Umm...I'm sorry, but Sprint did not lose 326 million. Being a project manager for the company, we have 4.1 billion in spending cash. 1 billion was used to pay off debt last week and another 1 billion will be used to pay off more debt. T mobile and AT and T's churn rates rose a lot compared to our churn and with our technology, we are stilll leading the industry and will be leading for a very long time. Our results were a lot better then promised and we are heading in a very good direction.

I'm calling BS on this one, if they didn't then why did they report it. And exactly how is sprint leading in technology or really leading in anything? well you do have the shortest hold time... yay sprint? So if they're reporting numbers that aren't true that is kind of illegal you know? but really, how is sprint leading in anything? Network sucks, phones are good, but again without a network what good are they? Lowest plans and yet you are still losing customers and money? How exactly does that work?

As a big red tech i have no place to say for sure but considering the authenticity on many of the 'news' posts here lately i wouldnt be suprised. There posting anything even close to news. "WOO! IPHONE TETHERING!" "SPRINT HAS THE BEST CUSTOMER SERVICE(not just call center times)" "BOO! SPRINTS LOOSING MONEY AGAIN!" "YAY VZW THIS" "BOO VZW THAT"

At least... thats how im interpreting it... lol

Anyone that obtains facts from a message board has a questionable level of intelligence. I wouldn't even believe anything posted on this site, it's all heresay until one of the carriers, rcr or wireless week releases the info.

i hope verizon does not take over sprint. Yeah it would be good for coverage and to bring even better phones to verizon, but if verizon buys all cdma carriers and ATT Wireless buys all gsm carriers then there will only be two carriers and that wont be good!!!

Why? I can't really get your point, but those two carriers choose LTE (4G) ...
