Picture of Verizon's Passion/Dragon appears?

A picture of a handset screen is sending waves of excitement and anticipation throughout the rather large community of Verizon smartphone users. The photograph is certainly that of an HTC developed model that runs Android. The thinking is that this is the display of the Passion/Dragon, the super spec'd device that is the Android powered version of the drool forming HTC HD2. While the latter is a Windows Mobile 6.5 phone expected to be released in the States during the first quarter of 2010-most likely by T-Mobile-the Passion/Dragon should keep many of the HD2's features like a 4.3 inch screen, a 1GHz Snapdragon processor and a 5MP camera. Add Android 2.0 to the mix and you should have a device in high demand. A BGR tipster tells the site that this could be launched in time to participate in Black Friday. This is based on a previous tip to BGR that either the BlackBerry Curve2 or the HTC Dragon would be launched on Black Friday. Since the Curve2 is coming out on November 20th, that would leave the Dragon for Black Friday, and where there is a Dragon-there is Passion. The Android excitement at Verizon continues.

I know everyone has this thing about believing everything on the internet, but how do you know this is the Dragon/Passion? It could be a screen shot of the Eris for all anyone knows. There is no frame of reference to tell this is a 4.3inch screen.

Not to be a dick or spoil anybodies party but, this clock is on pretty much all HTC devices, not to mention there is absolutley no branding that says it is for Verizon, People have been sucked into the black hole that is the Verizon rumor mill. Sprint is currently testing a 3g/4g wimax android device and they have publicly announced that they will be working with HTC to develop new Android devices in 2010, I would also like to point out that the city in the picture is Baltimore which is the first city to launch wimax, now I am not a doctor but you know what I am saying right??

Streeeeeetching, aren't you phoneguy? BGR broke the article and guess where he's located. I'm not a doctor either, but I do subscribe to the simpler explanation being the more probable.

I believe the title of the article says: "Picture of Verizon's Passion/Dragon appears?" [notice the question mark]

And then the first part of the paragraph says:

"A picture of a handset screen is sending waves of excitement and anticipation throughout the rather large community of Verizon smartphone users. The photograph is certainly that of an HTC developed model that runs Android. The thinking is that this is the display of the Passion/Dragon, the super spec'd device that is the Android powered version of the drool forming HTC HD2."

I know you guys have good reading comprehension, and I hope you guys are picking up that this article is just speculative talk, and that the only thing the article states is that this is a screen shot of an 'htc device', after that, everything is rumor talk.

So why are some of you going crazy?

It's pretty ridiculous they are even eluding to it is why.

The article could read - "New HTC RWANDA for Virgin Mobile??" It would be just as valid, er... irelevant, and unbelievable as this article. Would you believe it any more? Of course not.

Point is, it shouldn't even be speculated to be with such scant proof. Poor news to say the least.

I'm just pointing out that the question mark in the title means whoever wrote the article doesn't know if it is or isn't, they're just sourcing that speculation from BGR, but if anyone actually reads the article, it doesn't say that the screen shot is anyting other than what it is-an htc device-and all that is in the first first couple or so sentences. The rest of the article is just info the Passion or w/e you would like to call it. Entertaining a stupid rumor or not entertaining a stupid rumor isn't the point here, the point is there's nothing wrong w/ the article, yet, everyone is acting like Phonearena is claiming w/ 100% proof that this is the Passion/Dragon...big ass android phone....but I digress...

I see your point, but honestly, if they start reporting news like this all the time?? Prepare for tons of meaningless articles, and to me, that's not news.

That looks like a screen shot of the HTC Droid Eris... I was just playing with one today and it looks exactly the same.

actually, it looks like the lines under the numbers where the numbers change as the time changes is more pronounced than the eris. not saying it is the passion, just saying i don't think it's the eris.

It would not make a lot of sense for Verizon to release this device within 30 days of the launch of the droid with their 30 day wfg. With the expected stats of the dragon/passion, could you imagine all the returns they would get for the eris and droid. Does not sound like a good idea to me but who knows!

and i agree that could be a pic of any phone!

Agreed. This is clearly not the HTC Sense weather widget. But one has nothing to do with the other. The Passion will be released in December.
