Out with the old and in with the Bing

advertisment:
So it was inevitable and bound to happen some time, but Live Search Mobile is being phased out in favor of Microsoft's Bing service. Microsoft is investing a lot of money in the new search engine with even some witty television commercials running. If you happen to still have the software, you'll notice that it will either come up with a message saying an update is available upon start up. Or the “client update available” option will be shown when you press the Menu softkey. There are some minor tweaks such as the map interface, but it's mostly the rebranding of Bing that is most prominent. You never know, maybe there will be a complete revamp of the software down the road?

I think it's great that someone is finally challenging Google search but I don't it's going to be easy to take them off of the top spot. I mean google search use to be just a noun or something you use. Now it is so standard that it is actually used as a verb. When's someone wants to find something out in the Internet, you might tell someone to google it or someone might say I googled that on the Internet yesterday. But I'm not sure if that's just in my area or something.

I usually flip between Yahoo and Google to get the searches that I'm looking for. I used to be an avid google fan, but as of late I've been using almost 50/50. Probably more like Yahoo 60% and Google 40% just because Yahoo has been giving me better search results and have a way better front page of information I want to see. I might have to try bing in there a few times and see which of the three starts giving me the best answers overall.
