Nokia introduces AT&T-friendly N79 and N85

It is rare that Nokia announces phones for the U.S. market, but today we have one of these cases. Luckily, these are not some low-end models but N-series smartphones with lots of bells and whistles. Both run on Symbian S60 3rd Edition with Feature Pack 2, and offer Wi-Fi, aGPS (with 3-months license for navigation), 3.5mm stereo jack (also used for TV-out), stereo speakers, stereo Bluetooth, and FM transmitter and radio. Also, both have 5-megapixel cameras with Carl Zeiss lens and dual-LED flash, similar to the N95 8GB. Another common feature for the two is the N-Gage platform and each comes with a voucher to activate one full game.
Nokia N85 is a two-way slider with numeric keypad or music shortcuts, depending on the way it is opened. It has a 2.6” QVGA OLED display with 16 million colors, which we guess will produce very good picture in any lightning condition. The battery should last for up to 30 hours of music playback and an 8GB microSD card comes in the box for storing files. N85 is a quad-band GSM and tri-band (850/1900/2100 MHz) UMTS/HSDPA phone.
Both are expected to start shipping in October this year at about $660/$510 (EUR 450/350) respectively for the N85 and the N79. The European versions of the models have different UMTS bands.
